Is this the 4runner's long lost poor brother?

They look nothing alike to me, but that is JMO.

If you said it resembled a Highlander I MIGHT buy that one.

Well, they're both 4 door wagons with a roughly trapezoidal grille, but then again, so was the 4th gen.

Other than that, not seeing any resemblance.

Well, the only thing I see similar is the Evo-esque grille area, which is obviously a Mitsubishi design element in the first place.

For me, the face is so similar...from the grill to the headlight design. Of course, the rest of the body is different, but damn that face is just so alike! Well, except that the Mitsu has projector headlamps! :D

I agree with Thai. The fronts of both look a lot alike.

I also think both are ugly vehicles (especially the front ends)
The 5th gen.....I'm just not feeling it yet.

I look at the 5th gen and just think "Honda Pilot without the floating grill". I can picture the Honda emblem on the grill.

If you look at it closely, you can see that the grill is very much alike...if you switch out the Mitsu symbol for a Toyota, it is remarkedly the same! Then you move out to the headlights...same shape, just a little bit bigger on the 4runner. Take a close look at the grill and the crossbar within the grill...shocking IMHO. Now, put on the accessory Tacoma front skidplate and voila! identical twin for the nose!

I had mentioned this earlier...in another thread...how the new 5th gen reminds me of a Mitsu (evo)...
