4Runner with Z1

work

New member
Newly installed Z1 with GEX-P10XMT(got it for free from the installer:D) and CD-IB100II. Installation was ok, only thing I didn't like was the mounting of the mic. The guy never asked where I want it placed in the car. He made a hole under the aircon controls. I don't mind it being there but I dont want a hole in there if i decide to remove the HU and put back the JBL stereo.

Looks good. If you didn't want a hole in your dash he should've drilled it in the big spaces next to the stereo that the install kit fills up. There looks like alot of room there plus it wouldn't leave a mark after removal.

Thanks. But the place where I got it installed, you can't be in the workshop. Some sort of their insurance not covering damages to customers of some sort. So I had to stay in the lounge, didn't see the hole until it was too late.

The mic is for voice recognition. Basically you don't even have to touch the Z1 to play and switch between music on it. The black things are antennas.

They retail around $2300. But it is the most badass unit on the market. IDK how much that guy paid for his, but it wasn't cheap. Even at dealer cost, its expensive.

toytrukn78: No the steering controls doesn't work.

Coralkillah: tarheeltp17 is correct it the best HU out there. I paid $2600 for the HU, iPod controler, amp bypass and installation. XM was free :D

$2600:jaw drop:Holy S%@T!!!

I'll stick to stock CD player and portable Panasonic DVD player guys....if I had 2600$ to blow, I'd get the Supercharger...no....maybe pay the mortgage first, then get a tankful of gas!

Must be nice to be rich!

Yes, 2300 just for the unit. But look at it this way... you go and get navigation in a car straight from the factory and you'll pay atleast that and not get half the features... just the satisfaction of being 100% factory.

Here at my shop, dealers don't even order cars with drop down monitors in them. We do 100% of their work... with the exception of the very, very few who want the factory 5" screen for the same price.

It won't be too long before people start catching on and getting nav aftermarket installed instead of factory. The only exceptions are some of the newer cars where it is literally impossible to modify the audio in the car...

Yup close to the same price as the factory navigation with a lot less features.

The antennas are fine. No loss of signal at all even when the truck is parked under the garage.

i heard form few ppl that Z1 does not play burn cds, did u try playing burn cds. did it work?. Also did u get the blue tooth connection on it, if yes how is the sound quality

Z1

I have the GPS (Works good) the XM, works good, some static though when travelling. Bluetooth works good, good sound quality. My micro is above the driver sunvsor near the door. You can play burn CD'd but not burn DVD. Any ?'s just ask.

Z-1

I have a new 06 Limited, with JBL will the Pioneer Z-1 unit mount in the orginal opening without any gaps, could those that have this unit in there 4 Runner's post up some close up pictures,
Thanks in advance

Z1

I have the non-JBL unit. The Z1 fits perfect although it sticks out just a little towards the car. I had to buy 2 side plastic pieces from Schoshe (SP) and it looks great. FOr the JBL i'm not sure if those pieces will fit. I have seen a few links with pics attached, just look for them!

I had the JBL before i installed the Z1. The Z1 will fit with gaps, the JBL HU is too big for a 2-DIN radio size

Do you still have your factory amp hooked up to the new hu. i love the unit but i dont want to give up the factory amp with the bass

Yes, the factory amp is still hooked up. Everything works except for the sub. This is what I have in my trunk now:
