I need your opinion on this. I just bought the car. Do you think the person I bought the car from would have an idea that the fuel pump was going out?

I don't think so, though mine has never died they don't give signs of going up.

How did you find out it was the fuel pump?

I took it in
I dont have the time to fix it myself
It just makes me wonder because he said he had just taken it in

Sorry to hear about that what do the want to replace it?........I am gritting my teeth.

too much, fuel pumps are always expensive to replace. At least I got a pretty good deal on the car so its not quite as frustrating but im still not happy.

Yup $$$ they got to drop your tank to get it out.

thats the one thing on my Vette that is easy to replace and I mean the one thing!, the fuel pump comes right out the filler tube.:)

Maybe not....

Although manuals say to drop the tank, on the 1st gens you don't, there is an access panel underneath the back seat that you unbolt and it goes right to the top of the tank above the fuel pump, and you can pull the fuel pump right out that way...

I'm not 100% positive on the 2nd gen's because I haven't pulled that panel yet. But I looked underneath the seat on my 95 and pulled back the material under the seat to look, and theirs a panel that looks like it would be the access to the fuel pump.

It's worth the check, as you can simply flip up the seat and I think their's 3 bolts or so holding in the panel.

On my 85 runner I changed out the pump from under the back seat in about 15 minutes.
