There was a 97 limited on the season two finale of the outsiders (great show btw). I thought sure they were gonna blow it up on this bridge, and it sat there like the whole episode and everyone just knew there was a bomb on it, including me. Could be wrong though.

I wonder...how many background 'extras' are actors and how many are really just simply in the background because it's a busy street?

Same thing with vehicles. Do they strategically place every background person and vehicle and choose the person/vehicle 'type' to look natural, or do they just block off a street and film and hope none of those 'extras' sue for not getting paid for their .3 seconds of background glory?

If they just film and hope for the best, then I'd assume that there would be a shit ton of 3rd gens in backgrounds; they're frickin' everywhere. I'm pretty sure if I blindly threw a rock in a crowded parking lot I'd have about a 40% chance of hitting a 3rd gen...not that I'd want to hit a 3rd gen...and not that I throw rocks in crowded parking lots....
