4Running Daily's Build Thread

Gas Tank skid bought, and new Toyota Lower Ball joints.

Hoping to install the Upper Control Arms and Lower Ball joints the weekend after this upcoming one.

Also bought a 10 mm Spacer for the rear coil. I already have a driver side lean, and the gas tank skid will only make it worst.

And I think my throw-out bearing is on it's way out even though it's less then 6 months old. Have to check in to that.

There's also some truck building going on in this thread believe it or not :P

That may be true but...

:worthless

Last thing I saw was a pile of parts on a bench. They won't do much there. Stop goofing around on vacation and put on some armor and control arms.

The skid plates are painted and mounted. I just didn't take any photos haha

Any7 OffRoad Gas tank skid installed today. It wasn't an easy install. It took about 3 hours to get it bolted up all the way. Modifications had to be made. Some holes drilled out more, etc. Thanks Kraze.

And if rubs on the diff and on the driveshaft. So I'll have to wait until next week and plasma torch some of it out.

Now I gotta go deal with a fire...

Deer Springs is on fire currently, 600 acres have burned in that specific fire so far. I'm going to try to go there within the next week and grab a lot of pictures.

Did you have to open up one of the front mount holes? haha. I had to do some modifications on mine as well. Sucks that it rubs your driveshaft. I have no interference there, hits the front of the 3rd when I'm really flexing it out but thats it.

On of the front mount holes just needed to be filed out slightly. The big modification was to drill out the hole on the mount that bolts into the frame rail, it was off by 1/2". Mine only rubs when flexed. Those pictures are during flex. Not full flex though, probably only 80%. Luckily I still have access to a full metalshop.

I had to do the same. I bolted the frame mount first and that caused the outside front mount to be way off. I had to completely cut the hole all the way out and I now fun a bolt and huge fender washer instead. I also had to cut a slit and bend part of the skid that sits on the gas tank strap. It will take a hit though thats for sure, I landed on it more than once in Moab and I cant even tell

Ya, I didn't have to chop that much of the mount out. But I will have to do that to the strap.

Savage Off-Road has a 3rd gen gas tank skid in development currently :spy:

So why aren't you going to Moab dude....
I have to finish high school first. I don't graduate until the 3rd.
That sucks that it rubs. Do you have an adjustable panhard? I know that helped some guys.
I would think the panhard would move it towards the gas tank... but it is on the list.
Shane sold me this one for $150. So that's why I didn't buy a new one. Plus Savage Off-Road has one coming out soon...

You could have the truck shop chop and re weld the sliders on so they stick out 2-3 more inches. That might protect you for next time. They recently did this for me.

Looks like you made out better than Kraze.

Ya, or I could just do it myself hahaha, but certainly a good idea!

Shanes a clown who needs duals.
