4Running Daily's Build Thread

That Prinsu looks killer! I remember someone with a 3rd gen T4R had one a couple years ago but something was up with fit/ finish when they were prototyping them for 3rd gens. What is the retail on that? I don’t see it on their site..

Also, another question on this rack -what are you planning on loading on it? It seems like this style rack is best for RTT’s not so much for smaller items that need to be strapped down for day & weekend trips like firewood, camp chairs, Rotopax, etc. which would be my usage. I’m thinking of doing a Fibergrate style rack since it’s flat and has lots of tiedown options for small stuff. The only thing I think won’t fit right is the gap I’d get from last foot or so up in front of the sunroof since ideally I’d like a full length like this one.

Retail is $899 for powder coat full length.

My intended use will be Rotopax, maxtrax, and whatever else. It's pretty easy to strap firewood down and chairs to it. The Rotopax has a mount that bolts in to the slots on the rack. When I order, I will show it and it will make more sense haha.

Each crossbar is slotted. So you can slide in whatever slots you want and they bolt in place. Tie down loops that fit in these slots are included with the rack. Which is great for chairs, firewood, and randoms
 
I’m assuming you had to go with a rack that was made for a different model and then modify it to work for the 3rd gen? I’ve had my eyes on prinsu for awhile hoping they would release one for the 3rd gen, but I don’t see one yet.

Nope! Prinsu did indeed release one for a 3rd gen! It just isn't on the site yet! But they were released last week. $899 for full length with powder coating and you can call to order! Shipped in less than a week
 
Looking sharp Connor! I think I was talking to one of the Prinsu guys at the NWOR last summer. He said that they had one in the works. I believe he said that the design they came up with required drilling into the roof up front. Does this one require drilling new mounting holes up front?

This is a no drill rack! The front most supports close to the sunroof are just standard braces with 3M tape on the lower section. They work well from what I can tell so far!

What is this "new forum" everyone's switching too? I've been wondering why the 3rd gen sections been more quiet than usual for the past few weeks.
 
Crazy to see the forums dying. I guess I'm old school but I still see so much more value in a detailed build thread than an Instagram post. I get the gram' and I use it often, but nothing beats a well documented build thread, how-to, or product development discussion.

I'll be creepin' here forever. Especially the 3rd Gen section, it's where the best shit happens!

Agreed.

Platforms like Instagram have their place, but this forum has been and will continue to be a fantastic resource for Toyota enthusiast far and wide. In an age of pictures and editorials, it is refreshing to see a discussion, a story, a question, offered solutions, passionate debates, and the inspiration that we all find on these threads, past and present. There is value here. Even in old "dead threads". I can't say how grateful I am for having access to a knowledge base that reaches more than a decade backwards for answers and how-to's for vexing problems.

I see it everyday. A new face and rig starting a new build. I can see myself just getting started in some of the same questions that I have put to others. I help where I can, but it's mostly already there. A much deeper resource than a picture and a handful of words. Maybe some take longer breaks away, but still check in from time to time. I like hearing from people even if they changed platforms. And I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

I have been trying to determine if I can run A-pillar ditch lights with the same ARB Safari snorkel. So far from my research, it looks like most current bracket offerings interfere with the tube on the snorkel. I don't think you are the only one running one ditch light on the A-pillar. LOL. I have also been checking threads like this out for ideas on clearancing my front for the new 35's. I have been looking at how much fender flare can be shaved off and what it looks like. So... Thanks man!

Oh I definitely don't think all forums are dying. This place is definitely way less active than it use to me. I guess that's what happens when the site changes ownership and you can tag the admin without ever getting a response.

But I agree. I've always updated this build thread because this is the forum that started it all for me.

I think you can trim the access metal around the bolt hole to fit a ditch light on the snorkel side. I haven't tried it because I'm thinking about just pulling both off.
