**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

So what's the deal with the "10 years from date of first use" clause? If that is what it sound like, then 2003-2004 models are SOL, right? Tell me I'm reading this wrong.

The way I just read the TSB is that it's only for 2003-2004 Runners, so I don't quite understand the whole 10 year deal.

It also looks like the 1st phase is just to reimburse people who have had their dash fixed by the dealership and the 2nd phase is the actual replacement of the dash. Does that sound about right?

Actually, according to the TSB that BlackWorksInc linked to, INCLUDES 2005 Runners. Just sayin'.

For those that didn't read momo's thread and had questions about whether or not it works if you bought the car used:

I contacted Toyota and asked all this. You are covered if the vehicle is covered. I'm the 2nd owner of my 04 and it was covered.

They are asking for the VIN number to see if you qualify but didn't state what they were checking. It may just be model/year or they may be looking for vehicles residing in hot, humid states. I'm in Texas and the truck came from NC. They said that ultimately the dealer will have to verify if your dash is indeed damaged in line with what they are replacing but i'm sure all of us here with that problem know the answer to that one.

Your best bet is to call Toyota and tell them you would like to verify if you are eligible for warranty program ZE6. I called and got a case number just so that they had a record of it and to verify they had my correct address.

The letters are not going to go out until May 2015, regardless of if you call or not. They said the supplier is still manufacturing all the replacement parts they are going to need for the program.

Very much so subscribed. I'm the second owner of my '03 and it's been in Houston since Day 1 (heat and humidity...? CHECK!)

Needless to say, the dashboard looks like a European road map.

Took my boss for a ride the other day to pick up his constantly squeaking, creaking, moaning, and broken Jaguar XJ and it was the first thing he noticed. Sucks because, otherwise, the truck is darn near mint.

And I quote: "Wow, Toyota's aren't what they used to be, huh?"

Toyota start Dashboard Replacement Campaign. If you have 4th gen you will receive extended lifetime and unlimited miles warranty on dashboard due to its cracking or becoming sticky. Watch your mail closely. I got my yesterday. For those who already replaced the dash, bring your receipts for full refund. Make sure they have your address (moved or never registered with warranty department).

I'd rather not drive all the way to a dealership when I can just have it mailed to my house and install it myself.

I just got my letter. I've got an '03 that I purchased new here in MA and it has been here its entire life. So I don't think they are limiting to hot, humid states.

It is a warranty enhancement that needs to be carried out by a dealership (first to verify that your vehicle falls under the criteria [which has not been released at this time as there is no TSB] and then second to actually repair it) they will not send you the part to replace on your own as it needs to be done by a Toyota Factory Trained Technician at a Toyota Repair Facility to fall under warranty guidelines. (sorry )

What is not true about it; "Under Heat and Humidity Conditions" part? Most of us get heat exposure during summer. Are you saying this is regional? Please explain, because it is now how I read it in legal aspect of things. Time limitations is just what it says in primary coverage.

I can't wait to find out if my 04 is covered! I bought mine a few years ago from a guy that moved from somewhere in California. It was garage kept with only 84,000 miles.
After one summer in the Kansas heat, MASSIVE cracks developed all over the dash. I actually get jealous when I see some of the hairline cracks that people post.
