**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

Got my dash installed yesterday.. is this supposed to be the correct color? Picked it up after dark, so didn't notice a difference until this morning on way to work. New dash looks grey, rest is black. Is this correct? If I hit it with some mothers leather treatment i assume it will darken?

I've been following this thread and I did receive 3 letters. One for my 04 4runner, one for my 04 Sienna and one for my 07 Avalon.

I need to check with the dealer and see if they have it and when I can drop my truck off. Any recommendations on dealers or experiences with dealers specific to the dashboard issue in the local DC, MD and VA area?

Just spoke to my dealer again, he said the B1 color code is correct for my T4R (its not, I have the Stone interior, not Fawn/tan).

It was ordered on 9/8 (7 weeks ago). Still no trace. I don't think Toyota is shipping B1's.

Also, stone or fawn, the dash pad appears to be the same color looking online.

Still waiting for new dash

I have contacted Toyota corporate and my local dealer regarding my new dash that was supposedly ordered by my local dealer August 5th. No one seems to know anything. Toyota corporate suggested I get with the service manager at my dealer. I contacted him. He said he has absolutely no idea when my dash will arrive. I can see the dealer trying to minimize the number of dashes they install since it is warranty work so they blow off everybody they can. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to move the process forward?

It's not the dealer. I had to send my dash back since it was damaged during shipping. Neither I or my parts department have an ETA when it's coming in. The supply chain on these is moving molasses slow.

Finally

I finally received my 2nd Letter from Toyota and have an Appt. Friday at 10 for an Inspection:banana:

After reading this thread and finding some brand new cracks this morning, I called Grapevine Toyota in Grapevine Texas. He had me bring my 04 4runner in, the service advisor looked at the VIN and some other numbers, and ordered the dash.

Apparently they can determine if your vehicle qualifies for a replacement dash just by running the VIN.

If all goes well, I might be looking at a Tundra to replace my aging and dying 97 Ford Ranger instead of the F-150 I was planning on buying.

Just got my dashed replaced, pretty amped on it! But the dealership will fish around for anything they can repair... Came out great though!

Dash was replaced last week, about 4 months after receiving the second letter. My wife dropped it off and picked it up. Looked good but aftermarket USA Spec Bluetooth wasn't working (not surprised really). After digging all the way to the back of the head unit, I found the plug wasn't plugged in. They owe me a couple hours of time on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily they didn't disconnect all of my aftermarket subwoofer speaker connections. While in there I rerouted my Passport power wires so the remote button is in one of the unused button places on the console now instead of the dash, much better.

Took mine in to the dealership in Little Rock took them literally 30 seconds to check it out..said it will be in 3-4 weeks. Mine also has the center speaker, fingers crossed.

Just got my dash replacement back

I just got mine back -- The new dash is a slightly different color, and it seems like the the fitment isn't quite right? Or maybe the dealer just rushed it? I see in Nodnarbian's pictures that it looks similar.

Am I just being overly picky, or is the dash not fitting the same as pre-replacement? Look around the passenger hvac vent.

It seems like the 4Runner dashes are not "cleaned/waxed" from the factory, I've seen a lot (including my own) that came with a very hazy/poor looking colour. I wiped it down with the leather conditioner our detail department uses and it looks brand new now (still slightly different shade if you really look, but not as noticeable).

Fit around the vents looks acceptable to be honest with you, some of the trim panels may fit slightly different than they did before; I struggled with this a lot when doing the Camry's but I guess I am just as picky as you because I haven't had a customer complain about my work yet. Typically if the dash was "rushed" (I'll be honest I am getting the Camry's down to an hour in and out and that's just being leisurely, so "rushed" is subjective there) you'll see the dash pad not being seated properly which means the curve around the A-Pillar Trim will usually have a .5~1" gap between it and the dash pad because it's not resting on the pinch weld at the firewall properly.

I'd wipe it down with a conditioner (I've heard Armor-All is not a good product from a lot of detailers so I wouldn't recommend that one) and see how it looks afterwards.

I received the letter but my dash is perfect in my 03. Is it a ticking time bomb? Just wondering if it has affected a large or small percentage of owners.

It seems like it's quite a sizeable amount, and it's not just 4runners; it seems to be nearly all Toyota vehicles. However, they won't just replace your dash, even if you get the letter, you must take it in for inspection before it's approved.

We just had ours replaced at Texas Toyota of Grapevine. In at 8:30 a.m. and they called at 2:30 to let us know it was ready. Looks way better now!
