**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

Did you happen to ask them how many or if they'd even done any 4Runner's yet? I've been taking my time going in for the official inspection to give them a chance to learn on somebody else's truck :-)

Thanks.

-Brent

Brent, I did not ask. I guess if they've not done one by the time mine is replaced they will be learning on my truck ahead of you ;)

I have a 2004 4Runner that sits outside all day long in the hot sun. It has no cracks..

Does anyone know why some crack and others don't ?

Thanks

I know what you mean. I have no cracks, but with this high altitude sun I'm worried it's only a matter of time. Part of me wants to get it replaced as preventative maintenance before the extended warrantee wears out.

I don't know if they'll replace it without cracks, my experience and other posts indicate they take pictures prior to ordering.

Dash delays

It's been almost a year and still no word from my Dealership. I normally call every 3-4 months to check status and they can't say anything other than its on order. I have the dash speaker if it matters? Also he said the southern region has 46k or more dashes on back order...not sure if that's true or not.

The dash is free, trying not to get irritated, but this is a little excessive. I think they knew how many dashes were damaged and should have been rolling the assembly line.[/QUOTE

My dash was allegedly ordered 8/5/15. I called every 3 months and was told to be patient. I went to the dealer for another issue and inquired about my dash. The service advisor said my dash was ordered 3/2016. I said no, my dash was ordered 8/5/15. Service advisor said if the original order was submitted before the "release" of dashes (whatever that means) then my order fell through the cracks. Whoever I spoke to in March 2016 told me that my dash was still on order must have noticed my order fell through the cracks and re-submitted it without telling me. Bottom line is if you have been waiting more than 12 weeks your dash probably never got ordered and a talk with the Service Manager is in order. Yea, the dash is free but, I started this process in January 2015 and have had to stay on top of this for 18 months!

FWIW I took mine in for a 3-4 inch crack in the dash. They said they ordered the part and it'd take ~3 months. We'll see how that goes.

Finally took my 03 4Runner by my local Dealer yesterday. Quick and painless process. I have only a 4 inch crack as of now, and the service writer said that's all he needed to see. He said it's only going to grow and he would start the process of ordering a new dash. He did tell me they are on back order, but since I have to urgent need for replacement, and I have no plans of selling, I will gladly wait.

Hoping for the best.

Is there a new part number for these new dashes? I need to order one but I want to make sure I don't get one of the old ones.

Mine wasn't much worse than yours, just longer above the instrument cluster, took about 6 months but they did it no problem.

Why do you need to order it? The dealer should be taking care of everything as it's a warranty enhancement good until next year if I remember right.

Unfortunately because my 05 4Runner has been exported out of the US they will no longer warrant it under the warranty enhancement. Anyone outside of the US been able to get one?

It's free under warranty extension. But what is the cost if you bought a new dash. Is the price slashed bc it's a problem item?

12 weeks

I took mine back to the original dealer I bought the 2003 4-Runner from and was added to a waiting list and then called back a few times to make sure I was on it...I wasn't the first time I setup the service call. Seamless process but took about 12 weeks from the time I called. Shakedown occurs at the dealer where they have other service work I should do. LOL...Dash looks great, mine was in horrible shape.

Woohooo...finally my truck is in today for the replacement. The dealer here in Huntington Beach CA is doing 3-4 per day!!!!!

well after a year and some change waiting Toyota of Dallas finally was able to do my dash last tuesday. how ever after i picked it up i discovered i had a battery drain issue. i brought it back in thursday and explained the issue, they assured me it was the battery and simply just put a new one in. well friday its dead again, so i called and brought in in today. Their reasoning to my problem is that since i have a moderate leak from my PS pump it ruined my alternator. however when its running i get a steady 13.5-13.6 volts. so that makes no sense to me, especially since i had ZERO issue before i had my dash replaced. i feel like this is gonna become a huge headache for me.
