I don't really know for sure, but I suspect all safari/bull bars use that spot for mounting. About the only thing you could do is mount the safari bar as it's supposed to be and then modify the skid plate brackets somehow to attach to the safari bar brackets. If that makes sense.
I have the '06 skid plate mounted and plan to get some type of bar (as soon as I can make up my friggin mind) so I'm sure I will have to jack around with the skid plate brackets to get it remounted. Hopefully it won't be too much of a PITA.

As far as I know, most of the safari or bull bars are using the same mounting spot as skid plate... but yes, I have the same idea that if I put on a bull bar, I will modify the skid to mount it with the bar...
It definitely needs some efforts and thinking...

I will definitely share my experience if I could only decide which bar and then what finish I want. Very undecided at this point.
