Hi all -- surprised to see that this thread hasn't had much activity since 2020. I'm looking to refresh my suspension on my 2003 v8 T4R. Is it acceptable to go to Rock Auto and just get any springs that are compatible with the 2007 FJ and install them? Or should I be specifically looking for OEM springs (which by this point are going to be hard to find without many miles on them).
I'm looking for a ride upgrade with a modest lift (1-1.5"), nothing crazy. Just accounting for new components and potential for some slightly larger tires in the future.
My assumption is that any 'stock height' coils for the 2007 FJ Cruiser will work great with Bilstein 5100s on my '03 4Runner but I haven't done this before and am over thinking it of course.
Examples from RockAuto:
- Moog 81108 (front) / Moog 81081 (rear)
- Lesjofors 4192529 (front) / Lesjofors 4492516 (rear)
Or I could just stick with OME / Bilstein B12 that are specifically for the 4Runner.
Edit* The rear Moog FJ springs do not fit the perches at all. Please do not purchase the rear FJ cruiser springs from moog and expect them to pop in.
I went with new Moog FJ cruiser springs the only issue I ran into was the cup which slides onto the strut body to hold the spring in was upside down on my 5100s which basically made it impossible to install. I didnt realize this until a few days of wrestling. Once I flipped it around they fit great. Now I need to replace the LCA's and cam adjustment bolts because they are completely seized one broke free from the bolt itself which was great...
