Also, I did some LED bar testing this weekend. As soon as I find some time to label all the pictures I will post the results! Compared a 30" Baja Designs Stealth, 31.5" Cali Raised 3D and a generic Amazon 32" bar. Got good results and I am very happy with the Cali Raised performance and quality! Not just saying that because I'm a dealer. Like I said I'll post my results with photos soon!

Light Bar Comparison

Ok so here is the comparison testing I did the other night. I used the light bars I had in my shop so I can't account for all brands and models. I tried my best to do a fair assessment of each one. I tested 3 different bars. A 31.5" Cali Raised 3D spot/flood combo bar. A generic Amazon 32" LED spot/flood combo bar sold by OPT7. And last was a 30" Baja Designs Stealth spot/flood combo. I used the same mount for all three to try and replicate the same position for all three.

Lets start with Cali Raised. I just got my first shipment of them for a small inventory. These are the LED light bars I will be selling with my light bars if you would like to get the combo from me. Full price is $229.00. Overall I was impressed with the bar. It is a great spot and flood combo. I could see aprox 100 yards or more in the distance and the flood around the 4Runner was great. Here is a picture of just the LED light bar on, mounted in the lower grill.



The build quality is great on these too. I really liked the housing the light hast. The end caps seemed high quality and I liked the heat sync, it is good size. The wiring looks good and I liked the lenses.





Next is the Amazon generic by OPT7. This was the first LED bar I purchased for building these brackets. These bars are currently $160.00 and up. The light output on this bar is also pretty good and does a good job of being a true spot/flood combo. The distance was also about 100 yards.



As for build quality it is decent but I did notice a couple things that were a little different from the Cali Raised one. The end caps have a stand off from the lens of the light. I am not sure the purpose but it just seems a little odd. The heat sync is also smaller. It sits just as tall as the Cali raised bar, but it has those stand offs which actually take away from the height of the heat sync. The wiring is centered on the LED bar which could be good or bad, I like the side ones because it make routing of the wire easier, but it seemed just fine as far as quality goes.





Last is the Baja Designs Stealth bar. To be honest this bar is equivalent to more of a single row than a duel, so please keep that in mind. I tested it because I had it, and I wanted to see how their Stealth product compared to others. These are $849.00. The light output on this bar was very intense. I will say it is more of a spot than a flood. It had flood characteristics but they weren't as prevalent as the others. The spot however was more powerful and went aprox 120 yards.



As for quality it goes without saying that Baja Designs makes great parts. Everything was machined and made from solid materials, the heat sync was solid machined down to fins and the end caps were nice. The wiring harness was very very nice as well.





Overall they are all good light bars. If you want the best of course Baja Designs makes an amazing light bar, but at a very high price (you get your dollars worth). These are great for high use or race applications, but it is hard to justify spending that much for a hobby application (my personal opinion). The Amazon generic (OPT7) was a decent bar and on the cheaper end I can see why people buy them as the light output per dollar is good. They did leave a little to be desired on the quality and feature side though. The Cali Raised is my favorite. Call it favoritism because I am a dealer if you want but I liked the combination of light output, value and quality. The Cali Raised has some cool extra features that the Amazon one doesn't like a moister vent while still being water proof and I like the side mounted wire harness. Add in the larger heat sync and I think it's a great value for your dollar. I personally can't justify spending the $849 for the Baja Designs in my application, but for the extra $70 over Amazon price I think you get great value out of the Cali Raised bar. Not to mention getting a hold of Cali Raised directly is easy and they have great customer service which is important to me. Hope you all enjoyed! Here are a few more comparison pictures.

Finally got my truck back to the shop, and got around to installing my new bumper, retrofitted blackhouse headlights, and most importantly, my Style B brackets and LED bar!

Since I bought these blindly without knowing exactly how they would look, I wanted to put up some pics of my install so others can see how it looks. I used the exact light bar that MojaveMadMan posted at the begininng of this thread.

So here are the brackets, I hit them with 3 coats of high temp engine primer, and 3 coats of high temp semi-gloss black.

Did you have to remove the bumper to install the brackets? or did it make it easier?

I went with the Style A stealth bracket and I did not remove the bumper. I only opened the hood and worked from above/below. It was definitely tricky, but took me probably an hour or two in order to fully complete this. Just take your time and it'll work out without removing the bumper. (It definitely would have made it easier though! )

It definitely made it easier. However I replaced my bumper cover and headlights at the same time, so I had it all apart anyway.

Hey Mojave - what's the difference between the flush and stealth mount? Just the overall length of the bracket?

I'm worried about flush mount living in the city and the utter lack of parking skills people have so I'm thinking I'll go stealth to protect the light but like the flush look better.

Would it be possible for me to order the flush mount and drill the "stealth" mounting hole for now. And then one day I could move it out to the "flush" mounting hole?
