Ok.....so I've been extremely busy over the last several weeks and have let many things here go unanswered. I'm sure by now most of you have found your answer and some have chimed in here to help. I'll go ahead and throw in my opinion and try to catch all the questions.
Ok so its my turn to ask the questions that have probably been asked before....
How high can you go with lift before the LR UCAs run out of adjustment? Right now I'm running stock springs, billys set at 1.75 and a 1in spacer, is it possible to set the 5100s up to the 2.50 position.
I wanted to get rid of the spacer and get FJs coils but I don't think it will give me as much lift as I want.
As stated 3" is the max. Is your spacer 1" thick or 1/2" thick (1" total lift)? I have concerns about using a spacer with the 5100's. The 5100's are longer than OEM and with the spacer you're pushing the assembly down allowing even more droop, enough that you can be out of the "safe" operating range. I'd personally feel better ditching the spacer and going with the 5100's at the highest notch. If you're 100% street driving it's not as big of an issue as you'll likely never flex the front all the way, but with some off road use I could see it causing accelerated wear.
OK so I bit the bullet and got the lift kit. Went with the 5100s all around and unfortunately didnt pay attention to the forums and matched them with the OME 884 and 895Es. Somehow I forgot that the Es are exactly the same spring rate as the 895s only shorter. So now I have a perfectly level car with no weight, which rides pretty stiff in the bac... and once I add weight I have a nose high car that rides a bit better. So I wanted to get some feedback as to running the superflex rears with one of the airbag systems. Either the airlift or firestone... that way I think I would have a great DD and a very capable expedition vehicle for every once every 3 months it gets loaded up. What do you think!?
Here are some pics of the ride. 2007 4R Limited, but its a south american edition so there are a few differences.
Although I've never had them, I've heard great things about the Superflex coils. On paper, they are perfect for a stock weight vehicle, little stiffer than stock but not enough to be harsh. I think the Superflex's with air bags would be a great setup. See this thread for more info, and note the link in the last post, it contains the correct part number to be used with the Superflex coils.
Toytec Superflex rear coils with Air Lift airbags - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum
Never heard of them, but looks very similar to the Icon's. I'll have to do a little digging to see what I can find out about these.
Ok, so I want to make sure I have this right before making any changes this weekend. My current setup is bilsteins all around set at .85 in the front and and a 2" spacer on the rear with stock springs.I want to add fj springs, shout I get rid of the 2" spacer in the rear and set the fronts to 1.75? Is it easy to switch from .85 to 1.75? Anything else I need to know or do?I have a 2006 sport edition v8 2wd.Thanks
I posted this in tue fj spring sticky but haven't heard back yet from anyone.
You'll get ~1" in the front and 1/2" in the rear with the FJ coils. I think if you are going to the 1.75" setting you would want to keep the rear spacer installed, otherwise you'll be high in the front.
Ok, so I'm pretty settled on the TT Ultimate kit now. Are people actually getting only 2" of lift out of the Superflex coils? That's all I want and I know Toytec is sometimes a little conservative when listing lift amounts. I tried searching but couldn't find anything too conclusive.
As noted above, I've never actually ran the Superflex coils so I can't say for certain, but I"m pretty sure folks are getting right at 2" lift with those coils. Remember actual measurements will vary due to how much the stock coils have sagged, so if you're have sagged a good bit then you very well could see over 2".
Ark- I've been searching these forums ever since I bought by 4runner back in November, I just purchased some 5100's and plan on putting them on in the next week or two. I'm sure someone has done the exact setup that I'm going to do but I haven't been able to find anything. I've got an 05 sr5 V6. I bought some FJ springs, REAR only, and I am going to put the 5100's all around. I'm looking to see if anyone has done the rear springs only and then set the fronts at the 1.75 setting. I would like to know what the measurements are with this set up and what people's opinions are. I do very minor towing(whitewater raft) which isn't any more than 1500lbs total(raft/frame/cooler/trailer). I don't want to have any negative rake when the trailer is hooked up so if I have .5-1 inch of rake when the trailer isn't hooked up that is ok, but I do want it as level as possible. I know I would be safe with the .85 setting but I just don't think that will be enough lift, especially since I'm not putting the fj springs on the front.
Any advice/input/opinions are welcome.
I'm loving this forum in general by the way, I'm learning a lot about my 4runner
I think you'd be fine with the 1.75" setting on the front. If it sags too much with the trailer, then I'd consider adding air bags to the rear so you can compensate when towing. Airlift or Firestone air bags will run under $100 and are pretty easy to install.
tire size for a 3" lift front and 3.5 rear with after market bumpers?
anyone got any ideas I would like to get the biggest I can ( first time hearing this huh lol )
thanks
With some trimming and wheel spacers, you could fit 285/70/17's. The aftermarket bumpers will help clear the 285's more easily. You could also do something like a 275/70/17 which is a little smaller but wouldn't require much trimming or wheel spacers.
I've not found very much info on this so I've been hesitant to add it to the list. Ironman has a great reputation from what I've gathered, but I haven't found any real feedback on it so I've stuck with the more common vendors for this thread. I will make note of this and see if I can find some info to add to the OP.
I'm getting my lift put on at a local shop and I can't seem to really find anything on it. It's a 3" front and 1" rear leveling kit and the owner said it's the "truck" brand. As in the name of the brand of the lift is Truck. Anybody know anything about these?
As noted, it's most like a Truxx (now called Traxda). Their kit is 3" front and 1.25" rear. Not sure what they're charging you, but there are much better options IMO. The Daystar 2.5/1.5 runs ~$150 and the Toytec 3/2 is $240. Both high quality kits and much cheaper than the Truxx (retail is $417).
Just got a quote from a shop to install my lift (fj springs all around and 5100 from and icon rears) He wants $500. I'm confident I could do it myself but you know how that goes. Once you talk to someone they scare you with all the what if's.... Anyone else pay to get it done and is that a fair price?
I think that's insane. It's a 4 hour job. The only issue is going to be rust, some folks up north run into install issues and it causes problems. That would be my only concern, otherwise the install is straightforward.
Ok I'm looking at a complete FJ set up paired with Billie 5100's on my 04. I realized that in order to get a leveled stance people are putting a spacer in the rear. I was wondering if I could just achieve the leveled stance with a toytec superflex coil instead of using the poly spacer? I don't know if this will lift the ass end up too much, because I'm really going after leveled. I also really really don't want a bro stance.
Thanks in advance.
Yes you can. If you have a v6 you can use the 1.75" setting and get ~2.75" lift, or if you have a v8 you can use the 2.5" setting and get ~3" lift. In the rear you'd get 2", so this would take out some of the rake.
