Does the light on the dash come on, or does it blink? Or does it do anything? I've never had that problem. Id personally try putting it in 4wd and driving around to see if it will engage. I've done that with a locker....

Could be a number of things. Do you have the multi-mode case (4wd button on transfer case lever)? I have a standard SR5 with j-pattern TC, no light on dash or 4wd after a Mojave Road run. and DV trip. Checked solinoids, actuator, relay inside cab- in the end it turned out the vacuum line to the ADD acuator on the 4wd side had broke near the diff. Could be a number of items. Lot's of good trouble shooting threads on here and yotatech.

It does have the button on the side, I bought the car 2 months ago not driveable because the previous owner was a dumb girl who thrashed it around and ended up needing a new rear end diff, so when i bought the truck i went to the junk yard and got a new rear end and it drives great. Yes the lights come on on the indicator on the dash

So the light comes on and stays on? If the little wheels on the dash are green, you are in AWD. If the wheels are green and the center is orange, you're in 4wd.

Someone link this guy the transfer case thread so he knows how to work multimode. I cant, on my phone.

I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, but did you make sure the new rear end had the same axle ratio as the front?

Most 99-00 limiteds have the rear E-locker and IIRC E-locker equipped 4runners have a 4.30 while non-e-lockers have a 4.10. Might be part of the problem right there...

yeah i made sure it was the same, ill admit i dont know the most about cars but i did the research and got the right axel

Transfer case making any noise? There's been multiple threads on here about 4wheel issues. Before you pay someone to trouble shoot it put it up on jack stands. Engage the 4wheel, spin your front tires by hand, I may have this reversed(someone correct me if im wrong) if you spin the drivers side wheel, the passenger wheel should rotate in the opposite direction if its locked in. Check the front shaft and dif fluid also. Try a search on here, I've seen a few threads on how to trouble shoot the system. My guess is either the add is spent, or it just hasn't been engaged in so long something is stuck.
