4WD light still on when turned off

The previous owner had this same issue, but never tried to resolve the problem. The 4WD button will slowly turn itself off (sticky) over an hour or so, once it's switched off.

I took the 4WD shifter knob off, and sprayed electrical cleaner on the switch itself --but that didn't work. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Maybe the problem is on the actuator end? I looked through the threads and couldn't find much.

Any help would be really appreciated. I'll keep looking in the meantime.

mine dose this every once in a while. and ive seen it happen to more than one t4R. i think the issue is with runners that dont get put in 4wd that much or arent driven much in 4wd. its not at the switch end of things or the light in the dash. its more of the engagement or disengagement of the 4wd system. its not disengaging all the way. with mine it will only happen if i shift out of 4wd from a dead stop, the light will sometimes stay on untill you move the vehicle a little bit, this is normal. ive driven one that took a long time to disengage, like a block or two of driving then the light would go out. if its taking longer than that id think about having it looked at by a shop. but the more you put it in 4wd and drive it and take it out again(short distances, like around the block or up and down your street ect.) the better the problem should become and the less time it takes to disengage

I also found some others with the same problem. I'll have to look at the vacuum lines for the ADD.

I did a bit of digging and reading, and it turns out that if it's not:

A. Rotten vacuum lines losing vacuum pressure

--then it most likely is,

B. The front Differential switch (PN 84222-35070).

Here's what DoubleZero said on Yotatech:

"I replaced the front diff switch today (PN 84222-35070) and low and behold the 4WD works like it is supposed to - It even comes out of 4WD too.

Not being a "Certified" Toyota Technician it's amazing that I was able to fix the 4WD problem for $46.00 and an hour's worth my time. Compared to the cost before and the week the stealership had the truck, it was a small inconvenience. I am very glad my fellow YT users were there to help."

I'll probably just order this part and replace it, as all my vacuum lines 'look' good. I'll post my progress once my part is here and replaced.
