4WD Newbie

Have been having 04 Sport for 2 months and so far pleased with it.
Except I am a total newbie to 4Runner or any 4wd, and on the back trip from Mt. Evans my brain started to malfunction because of lack of oxigen :awais: and forced me to test drive offroad and I accidentally "slowly" run over a sharp rock and bented the engine guard(protetor). :(
Do you guys think I should fix it (there is a clear 2 inch deep bent on it)?
I'll try to get a picture and post later.

Like ToyotaDoodz said, your main concern should be if the damage went past the skid plate. If no other damage than you are probably fine. They are there to protect, and in order to do that, they will get a little banged up now and then.......Consider it character.

Here the pics of damage.
Its on driver side.
Any idea whats beneath it?

It's your skid plate and it looks fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Just check as previously said if anything alse got nicked by the rock, the exhaust pipe running across, transmission sump, etc. I think you are fine. I guess it sounded worse thanit really was.

My skids look far worse.

Thanks guys.
Just wanted to make sure its not a big deal and not to take it to dealer.

Now if I only could put my 4Runner like bulldog and check the guard.

mine is smashed as well.

not a big deal as long as the skid plate is the only thing getting smashed.

Mine is smashed as well and I don't even go offroading. I have a feeling Toyota makes them so they can automatically smash themselves after a certain period.
