4x4 Off Road PC Game - Spin Tires

So it freezing cold here in NorthEast Ohio and there isn't much I feel like doing outside. Me and a friend were bs'ing about PC games we played when were younger and 4x4 Evolution and 4x4 Evo 2 came up, which I thought were sweet games when I was . . . 14ish.

Fast forward 14 years . . .

After screwing around online for a while we stumble across a new off road game called Spin Tires. Looked kinda promising so I downloaded the unfinished Tech Demo just to see if it might be worth buying when they finish it. As simple as the demo is, its actually kind of entertaining. If you d/l the developers version of the demo, which I did, you can d/l different trucks and maps. I have a K5 Blazer that's quite fun to do hill climbs and go mudding with. Its not to bad at rock crawling either. The 4wd and diff locks work great for getting out of sticky situations. The game does have a few little bugs but that's to be expected with an unfinished demo.

I don't know if I'm too old for computer games yet, but I'm having fun. :typing: Just thought I'd share just in case there were any more 4x4 computer nerds on here. I was pretty excited when I found it.

I tried to download this game, and every time I go to open it I get this error message

Any ideas of what may be the issue or how to fix it?

You're not running Vista are you? Thats the same error message my friend got when he tried to install it on his computer too, which has Vista. I have Windows 7 and it works fine.

I'm on 7 and I figured it out. I had to download the normal demo first, then the developer version after

I've got xp and just downloaded the reg version. I click the icon and the screen blinks really quickly like a program is about to open and then nothing... think i should dl the developer version?

I just had to uninstall everything for it because something went wrong installing mods, I will tell you what exactly to do as soon as a I figure it out again. Also definitely get the dev version if you can.

I had issues with the game freezing with mods. There's a clear cache mod that solves that issue. I did figure the map thing out. I'll try and get back on here tonight and explain it. Gotta get to work now. I know the game has a couple bugs but it is an unfinished game. Once you figure some of this stuff out, it can be quite entertaining. Cant wait for the finished product.

Holy crap this game has potential! I am very impressed. Makes me so very happy that I just built a beefy gaming pc last month.

Im still on that ROR phase, but this game looks like its more like a game than simulation, will look into it.

Edit: just played it,idk control feels very sluggish, and i actully like the graphic on ROR more, and i kinda like having to use the clutch and the gear shifter in ROR

Just found out that it supports the xbox 360 controller. Makes for somewhat better throttle & steering control. This game has a long way to go, but I'm still enjoying it.

First off, in the demo version, you can only run one map at a time. So, make a copy of the media folder and put it in a safe place as it contains all the original map stuff. When you d/l a new map, it just replaces some of the folders in that media folder. Hope that helps.

I was looking into that game too but wasn't sure about it. I read more good things about spin tires than RoR. :noidea:

so i've been playing spintires 2014 for a week now. i beat all the maps and i'm really enjoying it. there is only a handful of mods so far but i already tried the mercedes and the cherokee. i'm posting on the oovee forum trying to get someone to put a 4runner in the game.
