5th Gen 4Runner Lift Buyers Guide

Then the 885's are the way to go. But I would still suggest the OME recommended spacers instead of the .85" notch. One is a proven deal but I haven't seen any feedback from the other. And the springs still won't bottom out with spacers. You'll hit the upper bump stops before that happens.
Apparently the ome spacer only works with nitro oem shocks tho, I order bilsteins, 885s and toytecs 1/4th inch spacers. Hopefully the front will give me 2.5 to 3 inches. Probably going to have to bite the bullet and get spc ucas also. Went with superflex and bils in the back and the ome rear spacer for driver side lean. Did I do good? [emoji16]

So I installed the bilsteins with 885s and the 1/4th inch spacer this weekend and my pre measurements from hub to fender were just under 20. Post lift is just under 25. How did I get close to 5 inches of lift with this set up? Bilsteins were set to zero, coil perch is in right. I can't decide if taking the spacer out would help or if I need to order 884s. 4runner is sr5 4x4 with no additional weight...

Your suspension should settle some after driving and flexing. I installed 5100's @ "0" with ome 883's (same lbs rate as 884 but 10mm shorter) and .25" ome top plate spacers and post install was at ~3.25" lift. I also installed SPC light racing uca's. After driving it a couple days and alignment, I ended up at ~2.5" lift which is what I was expecting. Not sure if you will settle 1.8" plus on your rig though....just keep in mind that every rig is slightly different and also that post alignment your lift #'s may change slightly.

Did you tighten your LCA bolts before or after taking vehicle off of jack stands? They need to be tightened/torqued down while flexed....with the weight of the vehicle flexing the suspension. Same with the UCA bolts. Also with the 885's, you might end up a tad over 3" lift (after settling) with the .25" top plate spacer and no added bumper/armor weight. Aftermarket UCA's with adjustable caster/camber will most likely be needed to get the most desirable alignment specs at your amount of lift.

Lift with bumper & winch

I just ordered a set of bilstein 5100's and am about to get a pair of 1" cornfed spacers for the rear of my 2015 T4R. I haven't put any of the suspension pieces on yet, however I do have a shrockworks front bumper on the thing (a winch with synthetic cable is on the to-do list, as well). I've read and asked around and just want to reassure myself that the set up I am about to have is going to be OK and not royally mess up my rig.

Thanks!

Are there any cons to leveling? Thinking of going 1" up front, it will still leave me with a very small rake.

Not really unless you are already under a large continuous load in the back, but if that were the case you likely would have already had to upgrade your springs. Anytime you change suspension geometry it could potentially increase wear, decrease gas mileage and may be harder to align, but with that minimal of a lift (essentially what they have on TRD Pro's) all of that will be essentially negligible. If it makes you happy go for it!

daystar 2.5/1.5

thanks again to everyone on the board.. tons of good info and photos of everything.

just got my cheapo daystar lift installed last night .... so far very happy with it. I thought long and hard whether to get full coilovers but frankly I will likely never reach the full potential of this truck offroad.

everything is stock except lift. alignment and new fx pro wheels going on next Monday!

edit - fx pros on!

Hey guys, I apologize if this question has been answered somewhere (multiple times?) but I cannot find the info I'm looking for. I ordered and received the Toytec leveling kit (2.5") for my 2015 Limited. I had a friend who works at a local auto shop look at the kit and she says only the front aluminum spacers will be used. Is this right? The black poly pieces apparently will not be used? And i ordered the correct kit for the XREAS suspension, thinking that there would be something for front and rear? Note: I'm a new 4runner lover and as a female not all.too familiar yet with all the insides.

Can anyone w Toytec leveling kit pipe in with info on if/how the black poly pieces will be used. I assumed it would end up being a 2.5/1.5 like the Daystar?

Let us know how the setup works out for you

Hello! I've tried the search feature and apparently I have no idea how to use the forum.

I have a 2016 Trail with no KDSS and I want to put Bilstien 5100 on it. I HATE the nose dive and I read the Bilstiens will help with this. I have stock UCA and plan to keep it that way for a while.

I put a PM to Total Automotive Performance but my real question is where do I find that extra lift spacer for the rear I keep reading about and when is it needed. I really want a SLIGHT rake with the rear being higher as I usually load the back with a full YETI and fly fishing gear. I'm thinking that would give me a level look.

The plan is to rock the stock tires and rims then upgrade the tires when needed.

Thanks

You will like the 5100's....I would get all 4 and a set of Daystar 1.5'' spacers for the back while going max on the front setting. Get some UCA's and be set for any tire size up to 285's AND still get the caster back to stock. I really like the ride and cured the front dive on mine.:keyboard:

Question: other than cosmetics (taller stance, bigger tires, etc) and a couple of inches of ground clearance why bother going through the expense of getting a lift? For day to day driving I see no advantage, perhaps a disadvantage in terms of body roll.

Thanks,

JDG

Hey guys, I have a quick question that may have been answered but I didn't see it. My girlfriend just got a new 2017 TRD Off Road and I got her the Toytec 3" lift kit with the spacers and springs. What would be a good rear shock to go with? The kit says a longer shock is required. Thanks!

The Bilstien rear 5100 will accept a 1.5'' lift as it is longer than stock....about $150 a pair on amazon.

I have a 2017 Offroad Prem w/KDSS.
Has anyone installed the Bilsteins 6112 and if so did you happen to put the setting equal for both sides?
Ive been reading non KDSS has the driver lean but with KDSS you'll get the opposite lean but also sometimes not?
I want to order the 6112 built since i dont want to buy a spring compressor and all that sooooo i need to specify which ring/setting both needs to be.

any help would be great!
Thank you!

Did you figure out what the poly spacers are for?.....The black poly spacers are for the rear coil lift. They fit on top of the rear coils and give you the 1.5" rear lift.

Yep, I finally figured it out. From the side you see only front springs, cannot see the rear coils so i was thinking the XREAS had some kind of different setup in the rear. So when I got down underneath I could see where the rear springs are. Thank you!

Good looking rig! I've got some FN fx Pros on order, and I'm hoping to get a similar look/stance as what you've got - what brand and size tires did you go with?
