5th Gen 4Runner Lift Buyers Guide

Anyone running 5100 with ome 885/889? Hows the lift? Will they require aftermarket UCA? I Just purchased a set of 17x8 offset 15 rims planning on running 275/70 and metal bumper after warrentee expires. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

This is a tricky combo.

The 5100's up front at stock setting will be OK for the OME2885.

For the 5100's in the Rear, the OME2889 is rated for 2.5-3" of lift. Just outside the 5100 Rear max.

Hey TA, just messaged you guys about an alternative "Rear setup" I am pondering. Just barely missed you guys when I tried calling. Thoughts?

I'm curious about 5100 vs icon 2.0 paired with the T13 coil for the 1.5" lift in back.

The Bilstein 5100's are good to go with 1.5" lift in the rear.

ICON 2.0 Rear shocks are perfect for coils with 2.5-3" of lift.

__

Any reason you wouldn't pick a Icon over 5100 or vice versa for the rear with a 1.5" coil?

ICON Rear Shocks are a step up from Bilstein performance wise and great for 0-3".

For a budget build, and direct OEM replacement, Bilstein 5100's are a great aftermarket performance option over stock.

Been lurking for a few weeks. I am a new owner of a 2011 SR5. I want to add 2 inches of height for purely aesthetic reasons. Maybe to clear a 275 tire size. I have evaluated options and am fine with stock performance until I reach time in my life in which I have time to do some wheeling (medical student here...). Thus I want to do an el cheapo leveling kit. It seems lots of people have experience with the Daystar polyurethane kit as well as other notable brands such as Toytech and Procomp but I cannot find a single mention of this one:

Rough Country 2 inch Level Kit

Heres the RC page:

2in Suspension Lift Kit for 10-17 Toyota 4-Runner 4wd [764] | Rough Country Suspension Systems[emoji768]

A shop in town quoted me $325 for total install and tire alignment saying that they "do these all the time" but I thought it odd that no one ever mentions this kit.

I have had lifts before. Im well aware Rough Country is a low end lift company and I would agree if we were talking full suspension, shocks, etc. but this kit is literally just pieces of metal. (And from my understanding metal > poly when it comes to level kits.)

What do you guys think?

So i've been reading through the many pages of this thread and haven't seem to have found an answer for this:

when manufacturers say x" of lift, am I correct in assuming that this is when the truck is empty (no roof racks, sliders, bumpers, etc...)?

Reason I'm asking is I've got a Gobi rack on order as well as some sliders and am trying to figure out what springs to go with on my 5100's. I'm estimating these mods to add about 180 or so pounds spread evenly between the front and rear axle so I'm initially thinking it won't do much harm to my ride height on stock springs and 5100's (front set at .85").

With a steel full length roof rack and sliders (nothing else), would I even need to worry about my current stock springs lowering at all? I'd like to maintain my current ride height (F: 5100's @ .85" + 1" cornfed spacer/R: .75" cornfed spacer) if not, maybe .5-1" higher AT MOST. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about 180 lbs...that's like having another adult human in the truck with you. Would you change your choice of springs based on how often you have a passenger?

If you get the springs I got to go with my 5100s (check my sig), you'll end up with 2" of lift up front and 1.5" in the rear. Slightly stiffer ride, no body roll in turns or nose dives in abrupt stops. Feels like it should've from the factory. I'd have no hesitation using this same kit if I had a full roof rack and sliders as well.

IMO, a spacer lift is a spacer lift is a spacer lift no matter who makes it or how you look at it. The Forum "lift police" will frown on it no matter what. Regarding the metal vs poly, I think it's a personal preference. I've heard pros and cons for both. I have personal experience with a Rough Country spacer lift which I had on a Jeep Wrangler. It served me well. It gave me the look I was wanting without breaking the bank. I put it on knowing that I wasn't going to do any hard wheeling with the Jeep. If I was a hard core "off roader" then I would have looked at more expensive options. Given you are doing your lift for aesthetic reasons, I think you'll be pleased. I agree with you on not seeing much on the Forum relating to the Rough Country spacer lift. I would also consider the Daystar 2.5/1.5 kit. Does your Rough Country price you were quoted include the cost of the kit?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I figured the sliders and roof rack wouldn't do much to the suspension but I guess I was overthinking (like I always do). I was looking at the OME 2883 for the fronts and maybe some SAWs in the rear. Thanks for reassuring me that I won't really need to be changing anything suspension-wise.

I wasn't so worried about the fronts, as they seem to take some weight before sagging. The rears, on the other hand, sag when I load up a roll of quarters in the trunk lol. So I was just worried that although it's only roughly 180#, I'm guessing it would be centered more or less right where the 2nd row seats are. Again, I'm probably way overthinking things (bad habit I know). I guess I'll just see what happens when the rack/sliders come in. Thanks again!

I agree...my stock rear springs would sag a bit with a small load in the back. The T13s I got are 18% stiffer I believe. It's just right.

Shop in Cleveland/NE Ohio area for Bilsteins

2016 5th Gen Trail w/o KDSS, stock except for TRD wheels. Have figured out that want to get the front Bilstein 5100 set at 1/75 and rear Bilstein 5100 rear with a 1" spacer. Also put on KO2s 275/70/17. Problem is that the 4Wheel Parts in Cleveland said that 4Wheel parts does not have any suppliers for any rear 1" spacer.
Does anyone know a shop w/in a few hours of Cleveland that I can check out that carries all including the 1" rear spacer?
Went to the Mid Atlantic Overland Festival a few weeks ago near State College PA. One of the main sponsors was Main Line Overland near West Chester, PA, but they are 6hrs away.
Sorry but being a new member I cannot start any new threads, so thought this would be the best place to put this question. Thank you.

I need help locate the right Air lift for stock 15 TEP with KDSS.
If anyone has kit model number would be great.

BUT my ride loaded with motorcycle hitch seems good. I was going 85mph on freeway and no issue. The sag isn't that much either.
Do I need one? Maybe if I hit more bumpy road I would need it?

Has anyone used the Revtek 1.5" front only level with xreas? Or have another suggestion for a 1.5" front level? I want to use one that compresses the spring, not a top mount spacer. I'm not changing height to use larger tires, just want less rake. The only shop near me that will mess with xreas will only use a Toytec 3x1 leveling kit. They told me it doesn't work with xreas, I showed him the Revtek installation directions which show how to install with xreas. He again said it won't work. I just moved to NW Arkansas, so I may be missing shops that'll do it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm also curious if it's possible to do 1.75"/2" front and 1" rear.

Corn fed makes them. You can also get custom sizes.

Would 3" front and rear eliminate the factory rake since stock components are replaced, or is that rake "built" into the chassis? In which case, 3" front and 2" rear for leveling?
