I just a 2011 SR5. Just got some 275/70/17 KO2 over black friday. Lift is next. Thinking ICON stage 2 with light racing UCA. Will mostly be highway driving, fire roads and occasional offroad. I live in Colorado so im sure ill explore and discover more offroad destinations and visit MOAB a few times. Anyone ever run the ICON stage 2? Thanks

3/2 vs 2.5/1.5

I was told 3 inch would effect the caster. would a 2.5 effect the caster less?

Just getting started with my 2018 T4R ORP. Added the TRD wheels and Nittos that come on the TRD PRO. Also lifted with a Daystar 2.5” leveling kit. Added LED headlight and fog light as well as led markers in the grille. Also did 20% tint all the way around. Finally, it’s been cold so the remote start went it right away.

I think it looks pretty good at 2.5F/2.0R, and I won't have to change a thing when I go with new tires.

Toytec 3" Coil Lift 5100 Question

I have a 2017 Sr5 stock suspension. wanted to get a 2.5-3" front lift rear to level. I need help regarding this front coilover options with Toytec coils:

Has anyone installed this setup with stock UCA and been okay? I would like to not have to upgrade my UCA if i can get away with it. Also, do i have to purchase "sway Bar relocation mounts" if i install this coil-over?

Another option would be to purchase just the Toytec 521600 coils+ 5100 shocks and re-use my top plate for a 2.5" lift.

I would rather purchase the preassembled coil-over at 3" since this will make the install easier for me, just wanted to make sure this would install without issue.

Trd Pro with Toytec 2inch lift. Swapped out Rear coils for Dobinsons for load

I just recently made a rear spring modification to handle some additional load when camping traveling etc.

Current setup:
2015 TRD Pro
CBI rear swing out
Sleep rock sliders
Front Runner full rack
Toytec 2" TRD kit (Front Spacers and superflex could in back)

With no extra weight I am 22.5 inches in front from center of hub to bottom of fender. In the back I am 23.5. Which goes the appearance of pretty level. I had not measured with load but I am assuming 2-3 inch sag.

Extra weight: (give or take 150)
150 lbs labs sit in back area 150lbs.
250 lbs on top rear of Front runner rack
150 lbs back seat
200-,250lbs for CBI rear bumper and tire
150 Tepui XL rooftop tent

I recently posted about getting new springs and was directed to Dobinsons. I called them up and Dave there spent time to talk through the setup and suggested Springs to replace the Toytec Superflex. The Toytec 2.0 Superflex are rated at around 10% over factory.

Dave suggested the Dobinsons C59-329 spring which is a linear constant Load coil rated at 660-880 lbs.

With the springs out sise by side you can see the superflex is actually about 1.5 inches taller but coil thickness is not as thick on the Toytec Superflex 2. (See pic)

After installing the new Dobinsons I have a pretty significant rake. 25.5 in rear as apposed to the 23.5 from the Toytec. I would like for them to settle about an inch if possible. I am going to fully load it up today to head to Colorado and will take measurements again.

The overall ride with the heavy springs is almost unnoticeable at this point compared to previous. Feels a bit stiffer but not bad.

I can't say enough positive things about Dobinsons customer service so far. Very friendly, professional and a ton optioms. If this coil setup does not work I can swap them for something else. Thanks again Dave for the help on this.

Hey all- I just picked up a ’17 4runner SR5 Premium on Saturday and now that I’ve driven it 120 miles, it’s ready for a slight lift. I’m not a big wheeler anymore (4 young kids), more of an occasional light trail/camping guy. With that said I’m looking for a 2.5”-3” lift. I would also like to improve the soft ride and nose dive in the process. I’m considering these two options:
Full kit
3" Lift W/ Bilstein 5100 Front Coilovers FJ/4Runner/GX

or the combo of these

Bilstein Height adjustable front and matching 5100 Rear shocks
with
RCC2.0 - ToyTec "Superflex" Rear Coils (FJ & 03+ 4Runner)

Questions:
The first option is a 3” front and the second (with stock springs) is a 2.5”. Is this really going to make the difference between needing UCA’s or not?
Is option 1 an overkill for a daily with the occasional trail weekend?
Any opinions on ride quality difference between the two?
Any other feedback or suggestions would be great.
I’ll probably end up with some style of Method wheel with 285/70/17.

I needed UCAs and I'm only up 2.5 in front for now. I think it also has to do with my tires being E rated. It handled fine at low speeds with stock UCAs, but will squirrely on the highway.

Hmmmm...what a cluster it is trying to decide on this. Toytec said I wouldn’t need UCA’s, and they aren’t really in the budget but I’d hate to get this all together and find out I do.

If you don't commute daily at highway speeds, then hold off on the UCAs. If you find that you want them latter, add them on. The install is easy. All you need is a set of wrenches/ ratchets that you probably already have, a torque wrench and grease gun.

Then a quick alignment and your good to go.

I don't want to change the rake at all, but I do want to be able to add a steel or aluminum bumper in about a year. Does going with 6112s all around pose any problems? Is there any projected wear?

Bilstein 6112's are a great option up front and we see a lot off people running 5100's in the rear.

This is a great set-up for daily driver and a build you can be really happy with.

If you are leaning towards a more off-road build, then definitely match with Bilstein 5160's or ICON 2.0's (#56505) in the rear.

Hey guys,

Making a trip out to Moab in 2 weeks and I want to make some suspension adjustments before I go. Looking to do fins and things and don't want to be scraping my bumpers all over the place. Also have added some weight to vehicle and I want to correct for that a bit.

Currently running Fox 2.5 extended coilovers up front, SPC UCA's, Fox 2.0 extended shocks in the back, and Icon 52700 2 inch rear springs.

I recently added a C4 lopro bumper with winch to the front and now my front is obviously sitting a little lower. On top of that I've got sliders, skids, and a roof rack.

What I'm looking to do is go to a 3 inch setup in the rear and then match the fronts to it.

The fronts will be pretty easy. Just adjust the coilovers a few threads and get an alignment. No prob.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for the rear springs.

I liked the ride of the 2 inch icon coils. They weren't harsh and I thought rode great. But now that I have more weight on the vehicle they feel a tad soft. I think they're 10 or 12% stiffer than the stock springs. Not sure on actual spring rate.

My options are:

The icon Overland series 3 inch springs. Dual rate springs designed for more load. Not sure about exact spring rate. Also kinda pricey at 284.

OME 889. These are medium rate springs designed for 3 inch of lift. These are 44% stiffer than stock at 260lb rates. I don't want a harsh ride and I'm not sure if these will be too much. Price is good at 170.

Dobinson Springs. I think the ones I want are the C59-675V. Dual rate spring like the Icon's. 157 to 230 lbs spring rates. Will run softer than the OME springs.
Possibly also for consideration are the C59-677v springs. These are a little taller and offer the same spring rate.
At 157lbs initial spring rate these will be softer than the OEM springs that are 180lbs. I'm thinking the 677v shocks will make up for that initial sag that'll get.

Not planning on adding a rear bumper or any more weight to the vehicle so I'd probably stick with this new setup for a long time.

Installing an icon stage 6 on my wife's 2018 Off Road with less than 1000kms on it. Will be running 285/70 KO2s on Icon Rebounds. Will post the ride results afterwards
