Nice - a little over 13% increase from last year. That's higher than Toyota's overall increase, which I believe was 9%.

I noticed the highest sales are typically in December? What gives?

Do you think that's when one would get the "lowest price" due to end-of-year sales?

Perhaps Christmas gifts to ones self/others?

A new company vehicle that must be purchased yet that calendar year?

We are only looking at a very small portion of one car company here. Jeep Wranglers typically have their worst month of sales in December. It really depends on vehicle type, company, adverts and demographics as to "when" vehicles are bought. If you broaden your vision to 30K feet and start looking at multiple vehicles and manufacturers there is no rhyme or reason. If you drill down to one type and manufacturer as I did then you could make assumptions on why December appears to be the best selling month. Good luck on finding out the real reasons though. Is it price? Availability? Color? Ad campaigns? Waiting to see what next year looks like and then buying this year's model? Any could be right. Or wrong lol.

Suv sales peak in the winter months. Just like motorcycles and convertibles are bought in the summer. I got a great deal on mine. Generally speaking, No you will not get a better deal on the 4runner during winter months. The absolute worst time to buy an suv is after the first big snow in your area.

I think the 4Runner outsells the FJ by a 2:1 margin. I imagine they just have a higher ratio of enthusiasts.

Remember too, last year's production (or exportation at least) was hampered by the tsunami. We had a drought here in Houston last year. It took me a bit to find a 4wd SR5 around april, and you could forget about finding a Trail.
