5th gen aftermarket exhaust?

I owned a FJ Trail Teams with a TRD exhaust. Sounded great. Since the 4runner has the same engine, is there a TRD exhaust for it? I've only seen a Magnaflow and flowmaster system.

Frankly, the 4runner sounds pretty wimpy.

I also had the TRD exhaust on my FJ and loved it. I currently have the Magnaflow side exit on my 14 4Runner, love the sound, a bit louder at certain throttle positions than the TRD but still sounds great to me.

18" magnaflow is the best route to go. Or if you're feeling up to it you could get an exhaust cut out like me too :roll:

I started out with a really small weld on MagnaFlow. When I got the rear bumper put on and chopped the tail end off it droned like all heck and rattled due to a bad install by the shop. I decided to go with the Borla catback as a replacement and hacked the tip off. No drone, rattle is gone due to having all stock hangers, and has a nice tone to it. Not too obnoxious.

I went with a flowmaster cat back on mine. I've had pretty good luck with magnaflow in the past, but it's nearly twice the price of the flowmaster due to including a fully polished muffler and tip. I was after a utilitarian setup, so the flowmaster suited my needs

^^^x2, love mine. Hardest part of install was unbolting factory tail pipe, those two bolts are real buggers to get out. Ended up using a cut-off wheel to cut nuts off. Other than that, install went really easy, did it the driveway with a floor jack and two jack stands.

The Borla stainless cat back has a nice growl when you get on it with no drone while cruising. I just got mine put on and it does pull a little more during a normal 2000 to 2400 rpm take off.

I was hesitant to put exhaust on a 6 cylinder, but I figured a 4.0 had enough displacement to sneak by. I was right, it's not ricey sounding and actually has a nice growl when you get on it. More importantly it's not real loud, I didn't get it for sound I wanted to sneak closer to the 300hp line. Borla claims a 5-15% increase and I would say for this application it falls in the middle. No regrets and happy I went with a pre engineered full cat back from people that have been doing it for a long time. Putting a performance air filter on is a must do in letting the 4.0 breath better on both ends.
