5th Gen differential options

Hi guys I'm kinda stuck and don't know where to look. I googled my question and even used the search but can't seem to find anything other then an ARB air locker or TJM air locker. My question is, does anyone make a limited slip or autolocker like the Detroit locker or Eaton limited slip system? I had one in my Land Rover and it help a lot, and my buddy's got one in his cherokee. I don't need a full selectable locker and don't want the added expense. Like i said just a limited slip or Detroit style would be great. Can I rob one from another model that would fit? Also, what size is the rear end? 8" or 7.5" or..?

Honestly from my little experience and from what I've heard on here the ATRAC does wonders. So if you don't think you need a full selectable locker you'll be fine. Think the rear is 8.2.

Yeah that seems to be what keeps popping up when I searched limited slip. I've watched the bids on it and it seems legit, but just too good to be true. Both my hummer and trd tacoma had a selectable locker, both of which I never really used. The 4x4 system and big MT tires really got me through a lot. Then again the hummer was full time 4wd and agin I rarely put it in low unless I was climbing rock. Now that life has changed my 4x4 adventures wil be a bit more tame so I was just looking for something for a bit more added assurance.

ATRAC is all you need. If you don't need a full locker you are fine.

They're called lunchbox lockers. Spartan, lockright, Aussie, etc.
Models for our 8.2" rear ends seem a bit tough to find, but tbh I haven't looked that hard since I don't think I'd ever install one of these things in my vehicle.

Yeah? Ok well see. I'm planning on doing the point sublime trial to north rim of the GC in the near future, just wanted the extra "feeling of reassurance" before I went out. Thanks.

They're called lunchbox lockers. Spartan, lockright, Aussie, etc.
Models for our 8.2" rear ends seem a bit tough to find, but tbh I haven't looked that hard since I don't think I'd ever install one of these things in my vehicle.

Man those Aussie I lockers seem great. Too bad there's no 8.2. Does the tacoma dj fj run the same size rear end?

The rear end is known as the 8.2, and as far as I know the only traction aide available is ARB air locker, or to retrofit a Toyota E locker.

If you have a 4wd with A-TRAC, that is at least as good, if not a lot better, than those listed lunchbox lockers and LSDs.

I have selectables front and rear, but there are very few trails that would turn away an A-TRAC SR5 4runner with decent tires.

Tacoma 05+ has the V6 8" with the locker, or the so called 8.4" for the other models. FJ from 2010+ has the same diff we do.

You don't want a lunchbox locker in a 5th gen 4runner.
