5th Gen maintenence schedule?

Hi guys. This is my first post. I'm very grateful for this forum. I just bought a 2018 TRD offroad. I'm pretty excited. My dealer tried to sell me the extra warranty- it's $2900 CAD to upgrade to a 7 year comprehensive policy, but this includes $1400 worth of scheduled service. I have read alot about various pros/cons, and it got me thinking about how much my dealer charges for service. Some things I noticed:
1. My owner's manual does not have a service schedule in it. It is not in any of the supplementary manuals either.
2. Toyota Canada has referred me to an online service schedule. This is the same as the one my dealer has recommended.
3. I did find an online 2011 manual that has a different (less costly) schedule.

The differences are not major, but I am curious as to why they are different.

Thats close to the price I was offered the comprehensive gold edition plan or whatever it was last year, my personal opinion is that is way overboard especially for a vehicle as evolved as the one you just purchased. I did a lot of research, spoke with two owners at work, one who had a 2012 the other a 14 and they have yet to be at the dealer for anything other than oil changes / tire rotations, of which I do myself after reading up on the threads with multiple pics and tips (oil change is very easy in spite of what some complain about, did my first at 5k, second at 10k, I don't drive much) anyway fact of the matter on warranty is it is your peace of mind I suppose but even the Toyota mechanic who had to replace a tire for me at 3k (tire guy went home sick) cause a bolt grenaded one of the Duellers, mentioned they rarely 'work' on these things within warranty it's all customer maintenance requests. So I'd say save your $.

And you don't have to buy anything now anyway - you can buy extended coverage at any point that you are within warranty, even on its very last day... :cheers:

[MENTION=267119]Bomba[/MENTION], the maintenance interval is 8,000km in Canada. That’s all you need to do. Period. If your dealer is good, they will spot any honest extras that need your attention such as brakes. My dealer has been great. No BS. I have 104,000km on my odometer and I’ve only spent money on the OEM maintenance schedule, brakes, and tires. When I purchased my 4Runner the dealer also included “free” undercoating, so I pay $35 per year to have it touched up. It still drives like the day I bought it 5.5 years ago.
