So has anyone successfully swapped the rear sliding cargo tray for the stock floor? Does it work perfectly with all the pieces if someone with a non tray vehicle was looking to swap?

How much "headroom" difference is there between stock and with the sliding tray installed? The reason I ask is I have tall dog crates in the back of my 2019 and they wouldn't fit at all with the 3rd row option.

Not to de-rail this thread, but 2 things.
1) I have a sliding cargo tray I'm willing to sell for $200 + shipping. It does NOT include the OEM carpet. ***SOLD***
2) Contrary to the OP's statement that you have to have it, the OEM carpet provides zero function. The sliding tray does not use it in any way shape or form. It does not rest on it. The only advantage to having it is the carpet is cutout in the correct places to mount the rails and stuff. (You have a pair of scissors right?) It also has raised block areas to "hide" the underside of the sliding tray. This is completely a visual thing only, and keeps you from using this 2-3 inches of space underneath to store anything. Like rifles, fishing poles, tools, jumper cables, etc.
IMHO you are better off without the OEM tray carpet, so you can get better use of all available space.

I hope you didn't order all those parts. They don't look right.
You are missing at least one major component...the hidden compartment section that is mounted right behind the seats. Also don't think you need rear floor pan unless that is the carpet, but you don't need the carpet, you have carpet already. I'm not sure what the Slide Assembly Support Bracket is. The whole slide is one piece.
I just sold mine to another t4r member and there is like 7-10 parts. The deck, the sliding frame underneath the deck. The hidden compartment, the 2 brackets that hold the hidden compartment up. The carpet (not needed) the cargo tie downs and bezel pieces. Misc bolts to mount it all in place.

I’m the member that bought nglayton’s tray. It’s pretty straightforward to adapt the carpet out of the standard floor to work with the sliding tray using the OP’s directions. You have to pull the carpet out and remove the styrafoam tray that is under it. Then, get out the utility blade and/or heavy scissors to trim off a roughly 4” strip of carpet behind the second row of seats, where the storage box replaces the carpet “ramp”. You also need to cut small holes at the location where you drill through the floor pan for the bolts nearest the hatch. Since the flat floor oem carpet does not have the “U” shaped raised ridges inside the slide brackets like the carpet that comes with the tray, I added strips of styrafoam on top of the carpet held in place with Velcro. I’m not sure they are really needed, but I think the intent is to keep small items from sliding into the mechanism. Easy enough to add and to take out. I spent maybe 2 hours total, a little more than it would if you have the carpet that comes with the tray, as I had to mess around with it a fair a bit to figure out how to make it work.
I can post pictures when I get into the office on Tuesday if anyone is interested in seeing how it all works. My iPad doesn’t cooperate with uploading pictures.
I’m really liking the tray so far. It was awesome for loading up a $500 Costco run today, and I took a nice nap on the now all-flat floor after unloading all that TP, beer, and hummus back at the house. I like the new storage compartments under the tray and behind the seat, and I think it is really going to work well when extended as a tailgate for food prep under the open hatch on camping trips. It is really a pretty cool factory feature, and I was really disappointed when I couldn’t add it to the vehicle I bought. I’m really glad I found this thread and a tray for sale within driving distance. Thanks, OP, nglayton, and everyone else who has contributed to this thread.

Here are photos in progress. You can see the not-so-straight edge of the carpet against storage cubby that I cut while it was in the back of the 4Runner. You have to cut off 3-4" as it otherwise extends over where the cubby goes with the tray, and you need to clear the front bolts into the floor pan. It would have been tidier to measure in place and remove it to cut, but I didn't really care since it is generally covered anyway and I'm a bit impatient with those kind of things. You can see the test fit of the white strips of Styrofoam in the last shot, then spray painted black to blend in more in the third photo. They have a strip of velcro tape on the bottom to hold them in place. I'm not sure they accomplish anything, but I'm thinking Toyota put a barrier in their version for a reason - to keep things from rolling into the mechanism and jamming it. You can see the bolt on the outside of the mechanism in shot two - that is the one you have to drill for and it's also the location you need to cut small openings in the stock flat-floor carpet.
Anyway, that's it, I now have the cargo tray I have wanted since day 1, and not having the oem carpet that accompanies it was not a barrier to installation. Also on a side note, you really don't lose much cargo capacity with the tray over the flat load floor. The oem Styrofoam tray under the flat floor carpet is really thick, it's absence is what gives storage capacity under the tray. I haven't really driven it anywhere since install to see if is noisier with the Styrofoam gone.
If anybody needs a replacement oem styrofoam tray or the transition ramp between the seat backs and the flat floor, just dm me and you can have them.

Old thread, but was hoping someone who knows will see it. I am supposed to get this installed at the dealer in the next few days. I have two concerns. It was only $350 plus tax but what I am seeing in this thread makes it appear as though perhaps I am getting something altogether different. Is it possible the price has changed or are there two versions of this?
Second, is there any concern of the dealer doing some sort of damage from installing/drilling? I'd cancel if thats the case.

I installed my tray last night in, like the OP said, about at hour, even with a few mix-ups, which I want to outline. This was going into a 2011 SR5. Not sure where it came from.
The tray I got (FleaBay) came complete and bolted together, so I had to take the rectangular covers off of the tray to access the bolts. There are 4 snap-in plugs and 2 hooks that hold them in. The hooks are toward the rear hatch, so if need be, start prying from the front of the rectangle (toward the front of the vehicle), that way you don't break the hook / tabs on the rear of the cover.
Also, there is a bit of a process mix-up in the original instructions, or at least there was for me. The rails needed to go in before the cargo box gets bolted in. As in, I needed to get the rails free of the tray before installing the cargo hooks and cargo box, and after the new "wings" were installed. That way, the angled piece on the forward-most ends of the rails can get bolted down and then covered by the cargo box.
Last thing is just some advice, about the horizontal trim piece nearest the cargo hatch. True, there are 5 snaps to get it free. But the edges are also clipped into the vertical trim pieces on either side. Once you shimmy the 5 plugs out, you can kind of roll the horizontal piece back and forth to free it from it's vertical friends on either side.
Regardless, I'm forever indebted for the write-up, it was awesome.
I do have the stock material if anyone wants it. I also have 3 dogs, so no whining if it is hairy when you get it. DM me and pay shipping or meet me relatively local to NH.

When I purchased mine I checked that $350 box for the cargo tray, but then the dealership called me back to tell me that it is $350 only if it is already installed in the vehicle from the factory. They told me that it couldn't be added as an option after the fact, so I got refunded the money and went in search of a used one which I ended up getting for less anyway. Buying the parts new individually is just a ridiculous way to go from a price standpoint, so finding a take off from someone within driving distance is really the only practical way to go since they are bulky and would be a hassle to ship. I'm curious how your experience went.
