Got these 5th gen setup parts and I’ve been told I need to ream the hole out in the rear for these shocks to fit. My questions are where do I stop reaming the hole ( what is the fitment supposed to be like) and do I or will this extra piece on the frame come off? I seem to be hitting it in these photos just on the left side. Anyone who has done it or maybe pictures/ extra knowledge would be very useful. Thanks

There is no need to REAM out the shock mounting hole for the rear shocks.

I just installed springs and shocks from a 2019 4R in my 06. That round metal piece with the hook on it came out with my shocks. I did not put it back in. Also the top of my shocks look different than yours. The guy I bought mine from said they came off a TRD sport.
I probably should have enlarged the hole in the frame slightly so the bushings would fit properly but I just squished them in there with the washers and tightened down the bolt. My bushings have a small protrusion on the top of the bottom one and the bottom of the top one that look like they should fit through the hole of the frame. The hole was less than 1mm too small, and I didn't have a drill bit that big so I just squished them in there with the top nut.
This is what my old XREAS shock and new shock look like. Its different than yours, hope this helps.

When I installed my 5100's on the rear I had to remove that extra washer that's attached to the frame. Its described in this https://www.toyota-4runner.org/2760199-post9.html thread. I took a big chisel and put it between the washer and the frame and hit it a couple times with a large hammer and it popped right out. Once that washer is out it should all just fit.
This is what mine looks like installed. Best angle I could get without taking off the tire. From the top down: nut,washer,rubber bushing,frame,rubber bushing,washer.

You dont need to be REAMING or ENLARGING the shock mounting holes!!
the rubber bushing overtime starts taking that shape from the pressure of the shock nut being tightened down and then from from time spent mounted on the your vehicle having applied pressure 24/7 and from heat and it being RUBBER its going to start sqeezing up into the hole as the bushing break in and eventually wear out...:doh:
once again NO NEED TO BE DRILLING/WIDENING/REAMING shock mount locations!!
And if you think about it a just little bit more ..what other issues you will create. ... you easily should be able to figure it out.
