5th Gen Trail Edition BFG AT Tires

I recently bought some stock sized BFG AT tires, load range C and the vehicle handles great. However, I just read that BF Goodrich says that this tire does not meet my vehicle's specifications. Is anyone else running these? Any issues?

Unless you are planning on hauling some tonnage you should be fine. Your load range C tires are rated for 2470lbs each. Look below the picture at this link and click on the specs tab. I was looking at this exact same tire but went with a different brand.

Just took a look at the BFG site and it looks like the "recommended" tires for a given vehicle are exactly the same as the OEM tires. So in this case, because your 4Runner came with P265/70/17 tires they only recommend other P265/70/17 tires and not an LT tire like your ATs.

Ideally Load Range D would be best for the 4Runner.

Realistically it doesn't matter.

3wbdriver - Nice white T.E! Mine is a 2012 and I said there are two things I would like to have in the Trail Edition. One is a white paint job and the other is the option NOT to have a sunroof (tall people in our family) Well, for 2014, you can get both.

Appreciate the replies. I did a little more offroad driving today to see if I could get these tires to rub, but no, everything seems fine and again, I like the way they make the vehicle ride. Big improvement over the stock Dunflops, And speaking of the Dunflops, I had two flats in the past 3 weeks on tires with 17K miles on them - one of which was a little tack in the shoulder of the tire. Un-repairable. So that was the excuse to upgrade the rubber.

Thanks. My choices in Trails on the lot were Super White or Magnetic Gray. I seem to have a bent for white vehicles, so there we went. If you stayed with your factory rims you may not end up with a rub. I have what is almost exactly the same tread pattern on those Grabbers, on 9" wide wheels with 4.5" offset. So most of my width gain is pushed out. I think that is where you get into rub problems. I wanted the wider stance so I did this knowing I might have some rub. My left front tire does have a slight rub in reverse at full right lock. My right front looks like it will be fine. Looking at the inner fender wells the driver's side looks like it sits closer to the tire and the passenger side looks like it already has a bow in it. So I'll be doing the fender well mod to the driver side, and trimming maybe 1/4" from the inner lower lip of the fender. I'll have to play with it some off road before I trim anything else.

I have to admit Super White is difficult to shoot in bright daylight. I don't have the camera skills to get a decent picture....... :dammit:

1 got 2 flats in the first 6k miles. I hate the Dunflops.

I am running 285/55/20 BFG A/Ts on stock 20" Limited wheels. Love them. At first, there was a bit of rubbing on some of the plastic up front, but the tires won that battle .

I did install Bilstein 5100 adjustables to help support the ARB bumper on front and to level the truck.

I run them in stock size , load rang "C" , no issues.
