5th Gen Weathertech TechShade Review

Just helping out fellow 4runner owners. I have to say this product is AMAZING for the 4runner. I bought a set and couldn't be happier.

The picture below is at 1230 in the afternoon with bright clear skies sunlight. The temperature inside remains a cool 70 degrees, despite the heat outside.

I lived in my 4runner for 2 months and my self made curtains got old real fast.

I can take pics tomorrow. It's complete black out and very very minimal light coming out from the outside.

Aka, you can park in a parking light and no one will know your'e inside.

These would be great for sleeping, but I can't imagine they keep the car cool that long if you're in direct sunlight.

It was pretty cool inside for the afternoon. It didn't really heat up at all, no kidding. But I have a silver 4runner, that might be the most reflective color.

The bundle comes with a bag as an option, about the size of a outdoor camping chair. It's very light weight as a bundle. Maybe a pound.

The materiel is super light weight for each shade and can fold and roll. They all fit together and bundle up for storage. Attaching to the window is 3 seconds per window. It's a perfect fit and snug into the little groove of the plastic panel and window intersection, giving a half centimeter to hold it in place. Highly worth the 1--$.

It's a Raingler cargo net specifically for the 5th gen. It's a PITA to install -- you have to remove plastic panels which are very tricky...took at least a few hours to get it installed, but worth it. Theres youtube instructions but there are several road blocks you will run into because there's tricky plastic Toyota stuff you have to negotiate. Get it!

How have the WeatherTech shades held up? I'm debating on getting the full kit for my 5th gen since it's now going to be a camping rig. Also - the interior roof cargo net is cool!

I'm in search of a perfect windshield sun shade, and the weathertech 4Runner one is 55. The entire package including the windshield suncreen and all the other windows is now $165... $195 after shipping and tax. Trying to decide if this "ultimate sleepable interior" accessory is worth that to me.

Either way, I gotta get a sunshade soon. It's a shame how much generic ones absolutely don't fit the 5th gen at all.
