Any more info on the sock? will be taking a trip from Northern Ontario to California this winter for 2 months and have our Fur babies with us for the ride.

Alternative solution

I'm sure you've considered this, but for all of $25 or less you could put together something like this:

The video is of a screen system I use on my 4Runner. My wife and I camp in mine quite a bit, this system comes in handy and stands up to downpours very well. Just another option to check out.

one note - this would probably not hold up to driving, but I haven't tried it.

3rd Gen Windowsox Fit

Reviving a year-old thread, but I've received enough PMs to warrant confirmation that the Windowsox part # 16131 for the 3rd Gen 4Runners actually do fit the 5th gens.

There's a bit of extra room and it's not 100% perfect, but it's probably a 95%+ fit, so good enough for me (bought for utility, not looks). I've been using mine for over a year and am very happy with how they've kept the brutal AZ sun out of my kiddo's eyes during the summer. Also held up relatively well, but some sun fading as you'd expect after a year outdoors.

I see there's now an eBay seller that offers them in addition to buying them from WindowSox direct. Not a huge fan of WindowSox customer care department, and it does take forever to ship, but if you're interested it's $40 well spent.

I didn't have any handy daytime pics with mine on, but I'll see if I can scrounge something up.

Cheers!

Really timely thread revival - I was just thinking of ways to create a screen for camping. Looks like a solid product - but I will try the $20 hardware store method first.

DIY Window Screens / Sox for $6

Went dispersed camping in Big Sur and slept in the back of the 4Runner. Decided I needed some window screens so I could crack the rear windows. $6 DIY Window Screens

Inspiration credit to Land_Shark and Fenix84 for the window screens!
