5th Gen X-REAS removal

Hello. I'm a newbie that's been lurking here for a few months and recently purchased a 2010 4runner 4x4 Limited. I'm planning to either level or lift my truck within the next couple of weeks, but am getting mixed messages about what to do concerning the X-REAS system. Got a couple lf questions for anyone who has knowlege...

Will removing the X-REAS cause warning lights or computer malfunction codes? (My dealer is advising that both will occur)

Will leveling the front end (retaining the X-REAS) via spacers negatively affect the ride?

Has anyone lifted a 5th Gen with the OME setup offered by Toytec? My last truck was a 2008 Toyota Tundra Limited Crewmax 4x4 lifted with an OME setup all around and the ride quality and articulation was excellent!

im interested in this as well. A few die hards here have removed the xreas and put on icon stage suspension systems. Write ups from them would be xtremely helpful

If it hasn't changed since the 4th Gen, removing XREAS will not cause any lights to go on or effect traction control, etc. It is a completely self-contained, hydraulic, non-electronic system. Removing it is fairly easy, especially if you are going to discard it. You can probably find write-ups in the 4th Gen section on this site.

Before removing the XREAS, I had a 1 inch front leveling kit on my 4th Gen with no ill effects.

I'd be willing to bet, it is still the same system that was on the 4th Gen.

Is it possible to add XREAS to the SR5?

I've looked into adding KDSS (via TIS), but it requires a computer and such so it would be ridiculously expensive. Maybe some larger sways and manually detachable endlinks would be sufficient. Anything like this available yet? My friend has done this on his Jeep Cherokee and the results have been excellent.

With the xreas you must do the front and rear mods at the same time due to the fr/rr relationship. System will not work if try to mod only one end. front levelers alone will be fine but why, my limited sits level from factory? ICON has some great options.

x2, was thinking the same thing today. beefier front sway bar would be nice for those of us who don't have KDSS or XREAS.

Will leveling the front end (retaining the X-REAS) via spacers negatively affect the ride? Toytec 2 inch front spacer lift I used to have-The ride got a little harsher and choppier but not too bad at all.

From research they are pretty stiff for 4Runners and was'nt advised unless you are going to carry alot of weight.

The only real suspension mod you can do with X-reas is the spacer mods as all 4 corners are tied together hydraulicly. You have to have it up on jackstands and weight off all 4 corners to remove it. There are 6 check valves and they can ONLY be disconnected at those unions to remove X-Reas and not lose the system pressure.A front ones are real hard to get to. I removed mine and put on Icon components, the front and rear remote res's, not thier stage kits.Hard to do a write-up by myself on an 8 hour job. Too much work to do and just want to get er done.If I do somebody elses maybe I can have them take pics.It's all in the Toyota service manual though!

Sure , It's easy to put used X-Reas on if the person who took it off did it right,by disconnecting at the check valves so no fluid pressure was lost. If you were local I'd hook you up. Too hard to ship and too hard to explain where the hydraulic lines run.Definitely ,way too expensive to put new X-Reas on!
