I found some 63 springs for $100. I'd like to remove my aftermarket shackles, and go with a zuk mod.

Is that a fair price?

I hear about 63s all the time..what chevy vehicle are they generally pulled from?

Dude is also selling a power steering gear box in "great condition" with 100k on it for $90. Seems like a good deal considering how much they cost new.

I offered him $150 for both the springs and gear box. Does that sound fair?

Any opinions/experience on the 63s?

I'm near sold on the zuk mod. I see most people go with 12" - 14" 100-125lbs coils.

I'm not sure which would best fit my truck. Don't care for the hot rod nose down look..just wanna make sure I don't over do it...

suggestions, advice?
 
I have no experience with the zuk mod. Mixing coils and leafs seems kinda hacked in my book. But others swear by it. So im no help there.

Chevys and some BJ spacers will level you out nicely. Ruffstuff also makes a 63 kit that frenches the front hanger into the frame to make it sit lower.
 
That's because it is kinda hacked, Hyde.

Badhabt, I used a zukmod to pick up the rear end of my truck when I first started building it because I didn't want blocks and I didn't want to mess with my leaves. I wish I done it right the first time, now, and a set of OME springs is high on my list. The coils ride stiff and they absolutely kill your articulation.

Also, listen to Hyde. IFS folks have used the 63s to balance drop bracket lifts in front. They will seriously pick up the rear of your truck. You're not going to need the coils in addition to the Chevy springs.
 
The primary use for the 63" Chevy swap is rock crawling, not lift.
The flex gained by using the longer springs is great.
Installing them is not a "bolt-on", quite a bit of cutting/grinding/welding is required.

AALs will give you more ride height, but usually stiffen up the ride a bit too.
As mentioned above, a set of Old Man Emu springs are a good idea.
About 2.5" of lift and a great ride and handling.

I'm assuming thats a leaf pack, per side, even though it says "rear leaf spring" (plural). Or is it really just one leaf per side?
 
ive got the chevies on mine. i like em and if you have a 4" front lift then they level out great. but ive got bj spacers up front and ill be sportin the hot rod look till i sas the truck. the zuk would suit you just fine since you dont go wheelin

That's for a spring pack, not per leaf (don't give them any ideas).
Add a set of their shocks all around if you have the $.

The 63" Chevy swap has it's uses. It's great on my 84 Runner, it's just not something everyone needs and requires fab work.
