650# or 700# Coils for ARB Bumper

I justed installed bilstein 6112s with king 700lb springs because of the v8 weight, no bumper and the truck rides great!!! As others mentioned you don't have to preload so much. Tried the 6112 with stock 600lb springs and full clip would only get me 2.5" lift. Now I'm at 3.5" lift and a great ride.

What are you running in the back? What clip are your 6112s on and what size tires?

I'm running 5100s in the back witn ome springs, not sure clip on rear. Front i think is next to highest. I was afraid 700lb was going to be too much but James at the truck shop said he would let me try it with the 700lb, if it was too stiff we would do a 1/4" spacer with the stock 6112 600lb spring. The installer drove it and said it was amazing but in the middle clip I still had 2 1/2" lift and i wanted a full 3" lift so he went up two clips and we got it up to 3 1/2" with no spacer. Great ride. I have an 2003 with fj springs and 5100s and the ride is about the same firmness but front has more dampening. I also have built right uca with uniballs.

Went to tierra del sol event in ocitillo wells this past weekend and the truck did amazing offroad. I like a slightly firmer feeling because I like to go faster than most and suck up bigger bumps.

So you have 700# Springs with the highest preload setting in that picture?

If ur going to carry load and actually use this thing then I would say 700lb

I rather have more spring than not enough... in those hard bottom out situations your bump stops and suspension will be thanking you.

I can deal with a little bit of a stiffer ride if its over-spring by a little, I like the headroom.

I have the 6112's at the 4th notch up. Thinking of trying the 700's at the 2nd notch up. Good to hear that the ride is not too harsh with the 700's.

Put a synthetic rope on it for some weight reduction.
My old Warn 8000 with the rope is 45lbs. that cable is heavy.

I plan on doing this at some point. The steel cable on this one is still in decent shape though. What brand of rope are you running and where did you get it?

I put the cheapest stuff I could find on mine at the time, ebay, Promark synthetic winch rope 5/16" 92ft. It was all blue then, now you can get any color you like.
This Warn 8000 is from the early 1990's, could fit 100' in it. Don't know if the new ones are different.

I have actually only ever really NEEDED a winch maybe 15 times in 25 years, half those times there was nothing to winch off of.
A shovel and well placed rocks/branches usually is enough for me.

I have no idea on what others are using, brand/USA loyalty cost a lot more than China direct.

Update:

Went with Icon 700# springs on the 4th setting and could not be happier. Truck is unbelievably controlled with the extra 160# ARB up front.

I installed the King 700 lb coils yesterday. After some trial and error, I set the 6112's on the 3rd notch up (out of 5). With the 6112's on the third notch and 700 lb coils, the ride height is about where it was without the steel bumper and winch and the 6112's at the 4th notch with 600 lb coils. The ride with the 700's is pretty good and controlled.
