6th Gen 4Runner Predictions!

Knowing Toyota, i think the 6th gen will be very predictable (pretty much the new Tacoma as a 4Runner). They don't really care much about this platform IMHO, They see it as a small niche product with no real future (milk it, but don't invest much). They will reach into the parts bin and throw some proven stuff they already have together.... Any R&D would be throwing money away. I also predict this will be the last BOF 4runner produced.

The entire auto industry is at a very strange point right now, the best performance cars and trucks ever produced are hitting the market as we speak (profits are up), but I'm afraid were about to see something like the 1980s happen again as the government regulations become a reality that cannot be ignored much longer.

Lots of truth in this post.

I think at this point it will just be a Toyota Tacoma with a top on it essentially. Same engine/tranny.

I know for certain that 4Runner is going to be stamped in the tailgate! 100% Bet money!

My predictions are that the party mode button will come back. It will engage a hidden disco ball.

I have an insider who just confirmed that it will be available with multiple paint options, including white, silver, and black.:spy:

There is no model change for 2018. They wont be announced until July 2017. First dealers shipping in August 2017. No minor change and no full model change. I am an insider.

lol that one flew right over you didn't it... :D :bolt:

"There is no model change for 2018. They wont be announced until July 2017."

Also, those sentences in that order don't make any sense. If no announcement is to be made until the future, how can one say there will be no model change?

There is a master calendar for all car announcements regardless of a model changes. They won't announce the 2018 4Runner until July 2017 with the production starting in August of 2017 as far being able to order a 2018. Per the calendar there is no listing for minor or full model change. There are other cars listed for change but not the 4Runner. Does that make sense now?

Inside knowledge? I work for TFS. You can chose to believe that or not. Just trying to manage the rumor mill that runs rampant on here with Foretunner, LC and photoshopped pics. Hey, thanks for the sarcasm and doubt, jackass!

Name calling? Really?
There are several here that are Toyota employees and have tried to manage the rumor with some fact. It does not work man. People think what they think. What happens is you say what the Toyota calendar says, a few people read it and a page later you are forgotten when some guy posts a rumor he heard from some guy
They run with that for a page and someone posts a pic. Point is the facts don't matter in these type threads. So you having something to say, even though it's real, carries the same weight of the kid who read something on some website his buddy gave him.

You're correct sir so much conjecture, speculation and outright silliness that I'm just gonna wait patiently til Toyota releases something official

I'm quite happy with my '16 TEP so I really don't care what Toyota does for Gen6 whenever that might or might not happen.

I heard the 6th Gen 4Runner is coming with a snorkel, TRD supercharger, and 25 cupholders.

Hmm..that process sounds a lot like something that rhymes with elections.

The Corolla and Camry are great improvements. That new little hatchback they have is slick.

The Highlander is disappointing because it went from looking like an SUV to a bloated minivan.

The 4th Gen 4Runner was a little too aerodynamic and gentle looking, and the 5th Gen seems to be a throwback to the FJ62 to me.

I agree that the new Highlander (and all small-mid SUVs) now look like minivans, but effectively that's what they are.

On the front end design changes, all Toyota and Lexus models have moved towards a wide/open mouth/grill design recently. I'm sure there's some cultural/style/design reason behind this (not just engineering), but I haven't got a clue besides people seem to like it (or Toyota thinks it will sell).

Still, you see the same with the new Ford trucks, bumper and grill blacked out to give the same appearance.
