I know it’s way out there but if the Land Cruiser is returning to its cost effective roots, what if the 4Runner is returning to its removable top roots?
I would love to have an old school land cruiser. I know an old timer who lives locally that has one. He and his wife drive it everywhere, even out west to Moab and all. Still look great for a 90s truck
I would not mind an open vehicle for CO or MT trails and select Moab trails as well. Here in the SW, we close every possible opening, lol. The sun and the dust are no joke.
But at that point, one can just get a UTV and enjoy a whole different level of performance and capability everywhere without stressing out a daily driver.
I don't think Toyota is caught up in who can build the best off road vehicle at this point, they have basically been there done that with the Landcruiser series. Emissions compliance, fuel economy and alternative fuel is driving the plans today, but they still can provide an off road competitor, not that difficult.
