70 Series is still being built in parts of Africa as well. Kinda weird, but I drove a 2012 70 Series LC in Djibouti…basically looks like they are digging deep into the 3rd parts bin for window controls, instrument cluster and HVAC but otherwise, that thing was a tank…manual tranny diesel FTW!

Before I bought my 4Runner, we were going to buy a JDM 88' Double Cab Hilux. But we decided the 4Runner was wayyyyy more sensible.

That truck is absolutely amazing. Was wondering if we can obtain the LHD one, instead of RHD. Not a big fan of RHD though lol.

Or I'd wait a few more year and get the LN107 (newer model Hilux double cab with either 3L or 2L-TE engine). Even much more desirable.

Gotta pay premium, I guess lol

Right. These trucks started manufacturing in 1989, which are now eligible for importation.

The even better news is, a lot of them have solid axle front suspension! :bravo:

Your best shot at getting the LHD would be importing one from Europe. I would get something with a 1KZ engine. The L engines are pretty slow.

Totally agreed. However, as far as I'm concerned, 1KZ was available only in the Hilux Surf, not the pickup. Got to look into that though.
