800 miles on it and its falling apart...

Maybe not a big deal (really isnt) but I expect a little more from a brand new $48k truck, especially Toyota.... maybe a Chevy ;)

Insert in front door handle fell out and hood release cable slipped out of the latch.

Kinda makes me wonder about other things like the motor, tranny, etc...

Anyone else have any other quality control or reliability issues??

I heard of a few people with newer 4runners having issues with muffler bearing failure and leaking blinker fluid. :gossip:
 
Mine has had carburetor issues from day one.

Also the right rear leaf spring needed new u bolts because they cross threaded them at the factory.

In all seriousness that's not supposed to happen. Door insert might mean they pried the door off to replace a window. NEVER had a hood latch thingy screw up on a Toyota, GM OTOH...

I'm just trying to look out for you. I mean I totally understand the thought process when two vital components out of thousands fail. I would also be wondering about the engine and transmisson logically. Maybe you can lemon law it before it ends up like that guy in the general chat forum.
 
Yea it's somewhat disconcerting when things aren't 100% on a new vehicle, but for me those items aren't raising alarms. Besides that's what a warranty/extended warranty is for.
 
In the way of comparison, mine had no issues. After 50k miles, it still doesn't. Then again, I wouldn't have considered a loose door handle insert an issue or that that was an indication the vehicle was falling apart. The insert could have easily shaken loose in shipping. But that's just me.
 
You got lucky usually door handles only last 500 miles.

In all seriousness take it back and have the dealer fix it. Non issue in my eyes

Man funny you bring this up. Took my trunk into the dealer because of a saggy rear end which I could have swore was caused by KDSS and my lift. Turns out not only are my u-bolts cross threaded, but I am missing one of my leaf springs. I guess leaf springs are on a national back order.. at least thats what the service guy told me and I really trust him...

Thats quite a leap to wonder about issues with your motor, tranny, etc. when you have had an issue with a latch and a door handle insert. Granted, those things probably should not have happend, but I think your 48k truck will be just fine.

Was just into the dealership (no not for faulty leaf springs...) and was told they just had a (TRD PRO 4runner or tundra.. not sure which) that sold for for 4-5K over MSRP to someone on the west coast.. and whoever bought it paid for shipping on top of it... i guess if you want something, want it now, and have the money....
 
Man, you got off easy with the latches....

Only problems I have had is that mine turned out to be missing 2 cylinders from the factory and no throttle cable between the gas pedal and the throttle body. Just a computer that has a mind of its own. Dealer claimed it was "normal".

So I'm having to install a supercharger that will hopefully resolve the issue.

I only paid 25k for mine. Perhaps that is why I'm having these problems, LOL

Yes, TRDP's in Cali are currently selling in that range over MSRP not including tax and fees, and they sell quick.

Well, actually, no. I expect more the more I pay. I'm not sure that's unreasonable. I think that's the demand part of supply and demand.

I have over 175,000 miles between a 2008, 2012 and 2016 4Runners...and I've only ever had one warranty claim between the three trucks. That was the stereo in the 2008 that went bad and even then it was because of an ex-GF that I had, that refused to knock the snow off her boots.
