85 for $1600?

Ok so stumbled across a 85 today 170k miles 22re auto the motor was rebuilt 50k ago trans was just gone through last year. It is missing the passanger front seat interior is pretty rough body is not great tiny ass new tires ugly wheels and running boards he is asking $1600.00 for it seems kinda high what is everybody elses thoughts?

Well that's ridiculous.


$1600 might be a bit high, but if the engine and trans are solid, the rest can be fixed, and 85's (or any 1st gen) are getting harder to find.

I am just kinda torn its really close to what I want do I say screw it and get and dump 2k+ into it or buy one thats been taken better care of. I might offer him 1k and see what he says

Yeah $200.00 is crazy if it were mine and somebody offered me that I would punch right in the mouth! lol But would totally take 1k lol

As said in a previous post 1st gens are getting harder too find. I just dropped 2,000 on an '86 with 180,000 motor and trans redone at 100,000 so 80,000 miles ago. The price was a little step but the outside of the truck is almost perfect and it's the exact platform I wanted too build a trail/mud truck out of. Edit too add so I guess it's all a matter of how much you are willing too spend too get what you want.

Trust me I know they are getting hard to find I have been looking for a long time. The 85 is alittle rougher then I would like I found alot of 4runners in CO that are exactly what I want but not sure if I want to drop 8k at this moment. On a good note a good friend of mine is a manager at a body shop so just maybe we could polish this **** up real nice. Oh yeah he has no documantation of said rebuilt motor or trans so as far as I am concerned they aren't rebuilt for haggling purposes lol
