After doing head gasket replacement and partial reassembly, I set the mechanical timing per the FSM and before filling with coolant and doing remainder of assembly turned engine over and let run just to ensure timing was correct. Engine fired after getting fuel and idled perfectly. Turned it off and 10 minutes later started the engine and again ran perfectly.
Next morning, I completed final assembly and was waiting for final seal on upper cooling tee to cure before installing glycol.
Afterwork, came home and needed to weld exhaust to fix squeaking on muffler that had been replaced earlier. I disconnected the battery before welding.
After I completed the weld, I wanted to start the motor to make sure squeak was gone and.....
Cranks like a champ but won't even sputter, misfire or anything.
What could have happened. I looked over everything and all seems correct with wiring and nothing is disconnected. Battery is weak but I did jump it to with a good battery and still nothing. Checked all related fuses that I could find and no luck. I was frustrated so i'll look again after work.
I've read everything that comes up in the search function but alot of the discussions don't have final outcomes or results.
If the timing was off, wouldn't it still backfire or something?
Is there something obvious I amy be over looking? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
