I have a 91 4runner 3.0 - rebuilt motor 800 miles throwing off the power steering belts and the alternator belts. any ideas from the group?
Thank you

Hey Willy,

Sounds to me like a classic case of pulley's not being in alignment with one another. You might want to double and triple check that the pulleys align perfectly, or at higher RPM's the belts tend to fly off.

Make sure your alt, PS, A/C compressor, etc are all mounted properly with the brackets all in the right position. It doesn't take much sometimes, as you're finding out.

Another thought is make sure all the bolts are in place. Extra vibration from loose or missing bolts could do it also.

Stomper, new guy.

after market pulley bracket perhaps

During the rebuild- the water pulley bracket was replaced with a Dorman aftermarket refurbished pulley. The dealer wanted $740 for the assembly- couldn't sell the pulley bracket as a stand alone.
Checking the alignment shows that the belts do not line up- both are off by 1/4 inch.

i had the same issue turned out that it was the fan bracket mount i was tossing everything off balance

The bearing failed in the fan bracket. cost me 120 bucks for new bracket and power streering belt and new e3 plugs
