91 4runner will not start, at times.

It happens randomly. Turn the key and no sounds at all. After some time interval, it will start again. It's random when it wont start and random when it starts agian.

We have an alarm on it, but we had the starter kill disconnected.

Our keys are old and worn, could this be a cause?

Has anyone run into this before?

Make sure the battery terminals are on and tight. Maybe take them off and give them a good clean and make sure there is no corrosion. As for the randomness, sometimes stuff just doesnt make sense and cannot be explained.

just a thought but you could have a faulty relay in the system.

this happened to me a couple days ago. i thought it was a dead battery and that mine needed replaceing so i managed to get jumps both times, but maybe it just needed to wait a couple min to start back up. because the jump did nothing both times until i had been at it for about 15 min then instently it would just start back up.

Thx for the responses. Now I just need time to test the vehical out. So far it might be a bad relay ( somewhere ) or the alarm was not proper disconnected

rainman0915, lets try and figure this thing out, cause it's real annoying. In a few days I can try some tests on the system.
