92,000 mile report out

Been awhile since I have posted. Former FJ Cruiser owner, then bought our 2010 4Runner.

It's been 4 years this month, and 92k, not a single issue. After my last oil change they said "you'll need brake pads soon..." (I'm an 90/10 hwy/city driver) so I will have my first brake job next week. :D

One change of tires at 75k, a new windshield, and synthetic oil changes every 10k is all the maintenance done.

Here is a pic (after a full detail, including wash, clay bar, Griots Machine polish 2, then 3, Klasse Cleaner wax and Klass Sealant, twice a year) We were leaving last Friday for Oregon (Lacrosse tourney, youngest son) 750 lbs of human meat cargo, a 75 lb labrador dog, 250 lbs of gear, and still managed 22 mpg overall. I keep looking around but I cannot find an excuse to buy a pick up truck that would have worse gas mileage and slightly better towing capacity...

Still LOVE my 4runner after 4 years and absolutely ZERO issues.

I have BP 2010 also and just got oil changed and injector service. currently 89k without a single issue. Brakes are due soon but I think I might do them myself as well as Differential service. Love this truck!
 
Nice! Thats great to hear. BTW, with the Tires I have I would LOVE to have 22mpg driving by myself with nothing in inside. :hail:
 
Thanks for the report, good to know what to expect.

I am at 87k miles on my 2012, changed shocks around 50k, tires and front brakes at 80k (pads were still good but rotors a little warped.

Only routine maintenance like oil changes, differential and transfer case lube, and transmission service have been done so far.

Knock on wood, nothing has failed yet. (other than OEM shocks wore out)

Oh, I am on my third windshield at this time.

i gotta say i'm pretty impressed with the mileage you guys are getting on the brakes. Then again this is me coming from a 1997 4R where warping was pretty common and my pads were gone often.

GO HAWKS! It was this time of year last year when I predicted a spanking of Denver in pre-season and casually mentioned that those two teams might end up in the SB. Wish I'd put my money where my mouth was in Vegas! :)

May I asked why you changed the shocks? Do you have the X-REAS suspension?

Also, correction on my post, I am on my 2nd windshield. :( It costs me $250 a pop (deductible) but the replacement with parts and labor is $1100. :mmph:

I changed shocks because I was tired of the front end diving for the ground every time I had to apply the brakes very hard. Especially at night, sending the headlight beams bouncing up and down all over the place.

No X- REAS, just KDSS. I think these things should have come with Bilstein shocks from the factory, they made a big difference, drives a lot better.

I even have less trouble with the damn brake assist system kicking in unexpectedly now.
 
Man,...92k on a '10. Lots of driving there.

I had a '03 4Runner that I put 83k on and the only issues I had was mis-aligned serpentine belt, replaced a windshield and a noisy sunroof (fixed under warranty).

I only just went over 31K on my '11 LE. The 4L 6 cylinder engines in these are rock solid.
 
Just for fun:
92,000 miles / 22 mpg = 4,182 gallons of gas

4,182 gallons * $3.30 = $13,800 worth of gas in the last 48 months.

This means I don't plan on doing the math for my 17 mpg. Ouch. Glad to see your truck is hanging tough!
 
Great to see that the 4R continues to be a worry free vehicle for you RIPSNORT. A quick question..you mentioned that you changed tries at 75000. Which new tires did you buy? I have 60000 miles on mine and the tread is definitely not what it used to be. Do let me know.

I went with the stock tires that 4Runners came with in 2010. Yokohama Geolandar G96B Highway All-Season.

The original lasted soooo long and had a nice quiet ride for commuting. Considering we don't get a lot of snow in the winter, I didn't need an agressive tire. The Geolandar did well in the snow when we go skiing in the mountains though.

That's the price we pay for living in the foothills and commuting to work.

Thank you for the update, that is great news on the 92K.

My '11 TE has 53K with zero issues. Upgraded the rubber to stock size BFG AT KO. Sadly, my windshield is a magnet for rocks... on #4 right now.
