94 3.0l auto taking long time to shift into overdrive?????

I recently installed Doug Thorley Headers with full exhaust. 1994 3.0l 4x4 auto. It does take alittle longer to warm up on cooler mornings. on a warm day like today 83 degrees it took alomost 4 miles on the interstate to shift into overdrive. after shifting into overdrive everyother time its fine just the iniatial warm up shift. Not sure if its a coolant temp sensor or shift solonoid that is hesitating to shift it?? any ideas guys??

Could be the coolant temp sensor, or could just be low on coolant, have you checked it?

yea the coolant is full. which temp sensor tells the trans the engine temp?

IT'S NOT THE SENSOR FOR THE GAUGE, it's a different one.

there is two cts's right next to each other on back side of intake its the one with a 2 wire conn.replacedainkiller: and it did the trick!! thanks again!!
