you can do brand new shocks, but they do not control the height. you can get coil spacers on your stock springs. 4crawler has them at a decent price. it will get you near level. or get some stock/aftermarket replacement springs from rock auto or a toyota parts site

i have had these on my radar for some time, hoping to find them sale one day. A year later still has not happened.
OME 2" lift rear coils
I recently redid all rubber to poly bushings it rides a little higher up front and made rear seem even saggier, I assume do to the freer control arms. I will be putting in the order hopefully this week. Replaced my shocks in September witch helped the handling quite a bit but now the rear feels like doodoo.

I got them from O'reillys. They were special ordered and ready for pick up in 1-2 days...cant remember but it wasn't a long wait.

It really depends on your budget.
Old Man Emu makes a really nice shock, though I am not entirely positive but I think they can be used without a lift.
Bilstiens is another option
KYB Monomax is a good on/offroad shock also, I think they have an adjustable as well
Rancho has 2 types of shocks, RS5000 nonadjustable and the RS9000 which is adjustable. I went with the RS5000 with my 1.5 in lift. they were listed as direct replacement with 0-1" applicable. They were much fatter than my beat up monomax's and required me to grind about a 1/3" off the edge of my bumpstops but I was balling on a budget and shocktober was buy 4 they reimburse the 4th price and rock auto t4r discount code. they are stiffer than my Monos but are awesome in the dirt(i spend about 95% city/freeway). my monos were busted when i bought the truck so my experience is pretty weak :moping:
Moneroe makes stock replacements as well as a few other lesser known names.
In My Opinion:
I would look into the KYB monomax, solid shock if you're on a budget. Also Adjustables are the way to go in my opinion if you want to spend a little extra also BUT at that point you're spending around 90$ a shock, billies can be found cheaper than this too, and OME's are about $400 for the set. If the price tag does not matter so much i would get the Emus
use the search to browse a little deeper, there are some really good threads with people reviewing most of the suspension setups

If you're not planning on lifting your truck anytime soon I highly recommend the KYB Monomax shocks! They are not adjustable, but the ride both on and off road stock is very smooth.
I ran a set in my then stock 93 4Runner for nearly six years. Now that it's lifted I'm using Bilstein 5100 series shocks.

I installed Moog CC255 springs and Daystar 1.25" spacers all purchased on Amazon and at first the rear sag dissappeared and rear was just slightly higher than the front but over time the car has really leveled off. If I were to do it again I'd spend a little more and pick up Old Man Emu springs which I'm told raise the rear by 2" and don't require spacers.

looks much better.. with the spacers, did you have to change the shock length or extend the brake lines?
