'95 rear window blues....

Hey all, new to this forum. The rear window (and therefore, the tailgate) on the '95 T4R I purchased won't open. I am 90% certain that the motor needs replacing, as I can hear & feel power getting the to motor when I press "down" on the center panel switch and when I turn the key switch. Unfortunately, the dealer wants to charge me $300+ for a new motor.

Outside of rummaging a pick-a-part for a motor that might not work, is there any recommendations on where to look? Or is anyone parting out their 2nd gen T4R and has a working motor up for grabs?

Also, are the power window motors interchangeable (i.e. can I pull the rear passenger side motor and put it in the rear)? Seems like a simple, temporary fix....

The 4Runner door motors are not a direct swap. I found this in someone's post a while back and saved it as a note. >>drivers side window motor, 1986-1995 Camry is a direct swap into a 4Runner tailgate<<<

You can find the motors, Camary or 4Runner, on Amazon, Autozone, Napa or any of the auto parts places.

I'd take the access panel off and check everything out (alignment, lubrication, etc) before jumping to replace the motor.

First off, thanks for the help and the quick responses. Turns out, it was an incredibly simple fix:

After reading about people's troubles with their rear window wipers, I turned mine on (for the first time) to see if they'd work. They did, and after I turned them off, I could hear the wiper blade slide into it's slot above the window. After that, both the center console and key switches operated the window perfectly. Turns out the wiper blade wasn't seated properly above the window, blocking the motor from turning.
