95 V6 T4R Gas leaking from tail pipe. Lotsa SMOKE

Help! Just replaced my motor with a used 1 with less than 60,000 miles on it.
Cranked up after a few tries. It's missing, flooding out, smoking somethin horrible & leaking wha smells like raw gas out the tail pipe.

Was the motor at TDC when installed? Sounds like the dizzy is all jacked up in the wrong position.
That is what comes to mind off the top of my head.

Did you replace it, or did you have somebody else do the work? If you didn't do it yourself, take it back to whoever did. If you put it in there, start at the top. Check timing, fuel, air, spark, compression, etc.

We didnt do the work, had it done. My husband has 3 Toyo trucks but they all have the 22 R. He does all the work on his but not to sure bout my 3.0. The shop had my T4R for bout 6 wks. They are a body shop that did this as part payment on a 69 Blazer he got from my husband. Husband check timing & says it should be dead on.

So ready to get it to the lake bottoms wit the hubby!!!!!! Funds r very limited & ppl want ur life savings(btw we have none, due to injuries from 4-wheeler accident) just to look at a Toyota. Held on to it for over 6 yrs after engine ran hot in Mo., trailered it back home to MS. Been sitting up all this time. Couldnt bring myself to get rid of it. Found motor near Nashville last summer & was totally excited. Now here I am stilllllll driving Mini-Van, & riding lake bottoms wit hubby in HIS Yota :~{ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do a compression test. Sounds like bad valves.

Boy are adjusting the valves fun on a 3.0 :clap2:

Was the motor rebuilt? Or did they just drop it in as is?

22rs are like checkers... everyone can play and play well.. But the 3.0, thats a chess game. You may think you know it, but it takes a lot of practice to master and understand it.

Could be something as simple as the spark plug wires weren't connected in the right order. Start with the basics - cap, rotor, spark plug wires, and make sure all the spark plugs are tight.

Next - take each spark plug out one at a time, and see which one isn't getting fire. If one is wet, with a strong gas smell that cylinder(s) could be the problem.

Make sure all the spark plug wires, and coil wire are in good shape. Old or burnt spark plug wires will cause you all kinds of problems.

Double check that you are at TDC on the number one cylinder, and that the distibutor matches.

Lastly - make sure all the vacuum lines are connected correctly.

Talked to my hubby. He has checked the mass air flw, it good. Replaced timing belt and water pump,all new belts, hoses & sensors in the back on water housing. Was wrong about the miss. It's not missing, but is smoking lotsa white smoke. Used 3 bottles of liquid glass in original motor when it over heated in MO, it all ran out tail pipe. Could that be cause of the white smoke? After letting engine idle app. 15 min, checked coolant level, it good.Checked oil, hadn't changed colors & didnt smell like gas. He 's thinking injectors. Any tips on checking them? Checked all fuel lines, vac hoses, all appear to be in place. New plugs, plug wires, clutch and pressure plate 7 fly wheel. He's really worked hard on getting it back right for me. Even sold his prize posession "69" Blazer that he's had almost as long as he's had me! Can't stand seeing my baby(T4R) just sitting there much longer!!!! Got plans for it this spring! Got 3 grandsons that I've gotta show that Me Me knows how to play in tha mud a lil, too! ThX to all for any & all suggestions!

ok come on now. I know there is somebody out there that can help us out. Plz let there be! Everbody out there plz check out my post and give us some suggestions. My husband has ran outta ideas. Other than maybe injector issues.

no he hasn't. he says "could that be the cause of all the smoke?"

Bad compression can indicate a bad head gasket or bad rings, among other things. Both of those things would cause smoke out the tailpipe.
