Last week in my 99 4runner I had A/C temperature knob issue when it cold it gets stuck and etc.. it is a common defect in a 4runner. Well I just tested that the knob switch works well even the wire. The problem that I found was VALVE ASSY, HEATER WATER Part No.: 87240-35070 it was melted to move the wire it was made in plastic and it did have a lot of corrosion due to its years or weather.
You will be required to buy a HOSE, HEATER WATER, INLET E Part No.: 87245-35670 its going to be stuck to removed and required to cut the hose with a knife thats why. This is for a 3rz-fe engine

Also for a 6cyl engine is the same part number
