New rear corner bumpers, a breeze to install till I broke a bolt, so decided to take all the trim off, will wash and wax then put the bumpers back on. Anyone recommend a good prewax that will get rid of scratches?

Not wax, but rather chrome polish.

Kinda off topic, but can you post a close up or two of your front mudflaps? I can see that they are not the impossible to find OEM ones. Just curious to see how they look. I also have a blurple '96 and took the running boards off. Need a good flap solution.

Here it is naked, took the trim all off for a wash and wax, don't think it was ever done before, the front mud flaps were $10 canadian tire specials I threw them out when I took the trim off, they didn't look good, looked like they were $10 from canadian tire.

Not sure a good solution, I ordered some different ones on Amazon, I will post the fit when they come in.

So could be running lean if it begins after the warm up period when running rich and with gentle pressing of the gas pedal after! My mechanic wasn't convinced that it was the O2 sensor on my 4R especially being the downstream one, he said that has no relevance, but after my own research I was sure it must have, why would it be there ? Pretty sure it was giving false reading to the ECU and screwing up the mixture, the OBD11 reader, ($19 Thanks Amazon) kinda confirmed this too. I picked up a sensor from NAPA BTW.

Are all the hoses snug ? there could be an air gap/leak somewhere, something to check.

Here are the rust areas I have right now. Not too bad for 18 years eh ! There's a couple of winter snow shots too.

I'm far from being an expert....But, my understanding is that the downstream O2 sensor has no control over the fuel mixture. It merely samples the exhaust after the cat converter and compares it to the exhaust sampled by the pre-cat O2 sensor to see whether or not the cat is doing its job. Don't know this to be a fact, but it's a simplified version of what I was told by a Toyota guru.

May cost me $42 in gas for a month of driving, much better than the $500 truck payment I had, today I'm taking off the roof rack for some new paint. Left it all connected and took the 10hex bolts out. Very easy.

Hi, 2 weeks ago I bought a 96 4cyl with 357,000 kms, my plan is to drive it to work for the next 22yrs.


From threads, mine buzzes when shut off, open the gas cap and it goes away, no part made for that anymore.

FWIW, my '96 V6 vapor recovery system has buzzed after shutdown from the day I drove it home new from the dealer. Apparently this is normal for the '96.
