Greetings all. First time poster.
I am looking at upgrading from a pop-up camper to a hybrid trailer. I never worried or wondered if I had the capability to pull the pop-up but now I'm wondering if my '96 4Runner has the capability of pulling a larger travel trailer.
The big thing is trying to figure out what my tow capacity is. The owner's manual says capacity is 3500# but in searches I've done on the internet I've read where towing capacity was upped to 5000# starting in 1996. Does it state anywhere on the 4Runner what the actual towing capacity is?
My '96 is a Limited with automatic. 3.4 V6. Were there optional tow packages for that year and if so, how could I tell if I have it? I'm guessing all 4Runners come standard with the tow hitch, and, that probably doesn't indicate a tow package. Any infomation is appreciated.
TIA.
