First off, hello to all! Love this forum, been lurking for a while, and have capitalized on the wealth of info and ideas.
I own a 97' limited, with a few minor mods, (toytec coil overs, ome coils out back w/ 5100's , tbu, few other minor things). This rig has never left me stranded, and I don't drive it that much. Recently I had the tell tale signs of a blown head gasket, (was still running at that point) took it in to a "reputable" shop, and had them preform the work. Both heads decked, cleaned, inspected & pressure tested. New timing kit, water pump, head bolts, gaskets, coolant system flush, t-stat, oil change, and a full tune up. Picked my rig up today, after they had closed, and now at idle it sounds like a diesel. The valve train noise is very loud. Any ideas what would make it sound like this? Is it normal due to "cleaning" everything? Mis-adjusted valves? I have already called and left a message, just trying to be a bit more educated for when I actually talk to the service manager. Thanks in advance for any insight offered.
