98 SR5 Factory keyless entry Available?

Hello Forum!
I am new to the forum as I have recently purchased a 98 SR5. The previous owner had one of those cheap after market alarms that comes with the cheesy button. I went to one of the local toyota dealerships and asked if they had the factory keyless entry button. They told me the 98's didnt get a keyless entry. I dont think I believe them...Is this true? If not, where can I find one? I want the factory keyless entry button. Thanks!

I would call another shop. My buddy has a 98 with the factory Toyota key fob.

Ya they're FOS. My 97 SR5 has keyless entry.

Not trying to thread jack but can someone post a picture of their 98 key fob or number thing on the back? I don't have the alarm system just need to know what the part number is for it, Toyota wouldn't tell me the part number. Thanks in advance and sorry to thread jack.

agreed, my 98 had keyless entry.

after doing some research, my does not have the black control unit box under the drivers seat. Is there somewhere I can buy a factory unit? the toyota dealership by me says they no longer have it in inventory. I really want a factory keyless entry. I HATE the aftermarket ones. 1st choice would be the one with the button to roll down the window on the tailgate but if I can only do the one that locks and unlocks Id be happy...

This is what the control unit for the alarm looks like... i.e. the part that goes under the drivers seat. I believe there were two different ones for various years of 4Runners, an RS3000 and something in the 2000 range... I'm not sure.

But this is what the box looks like, I think.

Again, you DON'T need an alarm box for keyless enry. See this post
